Wont work at all with Blackberry 8350i on boost network

I just downloaded 3jam 4.1 on my BB curve 8350i I am not receiving any messages and the ones i send out are not getting received to who i sent them to im using boost mobile with the nextel 8350i is this why i cannot get messages because i dont have a data package so i cant send or receive messages using boost mobile with the blackberry since the data package is only offered by nextel please help i want to be able to text and im on your free trial time so if it doesnt work i guess i have to cancel
