web archive
I would love to see the Evernote web clipper with the ability to archive a web page (graphics and layout and all) - similar to the Web Archive feature in Safari. Or at least have the ability to add and index a web archive file.

Inappropriate? Please do this! I realize there may be problems with the format working across platforms, but the ability to get one-click saving of an entire web page -- with formatting intact -- is the only thing keeping me from leaving Yojimbo.

Inappropriate?Erm, I don't understand how this is different to what the web clipper already does. I am able to save an entire copy of a website (with all graphics and formatting) using the standard webclipper. Occasionally there are minor differences in the formatting but generally I get a pretty much exact copy of the web page in Evernote. What exactly are you after that isn't already possible?
I’m confused
-
There's a pretty big difference. The web clipper in no way maintains "all formatting." It flattens out the layout. If all you care about is the text content, then the current setup is fine, but if you want an exact copy, the web archive format does that perfectly. It's what Mac-only note apps like Yojimbo use. It would be great if Evernote could do the same. -
I suppose the web clipper doesn't produce an *exact* copy of the site with everything identical to the original site. I've never really noticed since I'm normally more concerned about the content than the exact layout, and the formatting is generally similar enough to the original for my purposes. I'm still interested about why you need to preserve all of the formatting precisely as it was on the original page, though. I'm not being "funny", I'm genuinely interested in understanding how other people use Evernote! -
I would love to move all my stuff from Yojimbo.app! But not until the WEB-ARCHIVE will be accurate... -
When the content that is of interest is more than just the words, it's the visual design of a particular page or element on the page the web archive feature is perfect. -
OK, I think I understand now! I hadn't really thought about the fact that some people might be clipping pages because they are interested in the actual design of the page rather than simply its content (I'm guessing we're talking about people like web site designers?). I've never had cause to do this, but I suppose it's similar to what I do with pictures that inspire me. Perhaps if it's mainly the visual aspects of the design you are interested in then for the time being you could save a screenshot of a website, but I can see why you might want a copy of the page itself. -
Inappropriate?I've used evernote since beta but I still use Yojimbo! for many of my daily tasks because it can save a recall web pages EXACTLY as you saw it when you saved it into Yojimbo! I think this is a essential feature. I also like that Yojimbo! has special datatypes for serial numbers and passwords. On the flipside, I use evernote or all my business cards, iphone camera captures and fragments of information.
If evernote had a web-archive type feature I could see migrating everything over from Yojimbo! Oh and text indexing of images inside of PDFs would be nice too! -
Inappropriate? This is the one feature that's keeping me from using Evernote exclusively. I've got loads of web archives saved in Journler and Yojimbo, and they've got nowhere to go.
-
Inappropriate?Maintaining the look and feel of archived webpages is extremely important for recall. This is the quickest way for me to scan some thumbnails and find what I'm looking for. A killer feature if available.
-
Inappropriate?I cannot express just how important full webarchive support is! It's been over a year, judging from these comments, and still no hint from the devs as to whether this is coming?
I'm with Jeff - until this feature is implemented, I just can't jump in with both feet. It's just not enough to have some broken render of a website as a "clipping"...
I’m sad
