Adobe InDesign image fading issues.
i am having a problem with indesign cs4 where eps (jpeg preview) images with silo paths are coming up lighter (faded) when duplicated one slightly overlapping the other. if i simply touch the placed image or move it slightly, it seems to fix the problem. the problem appears in the printed page as well as the original postscript file. this is happening on a variety of computers and various configurations.

Inappropriate?Hob,
Are the EPS files authored by Photoshop? If you choose to show import options when placing, and ask that the PostScript be rasterized to create the preview, does it still happen? Does it show when you enable Overprint Preview? When it shows in printing, are you printing to a postscript printer, or non-PS?
I've tried to reproduce the problem, but without success. If you can, please save a copy of the document that contains just the two instances of the image, confirm that it still shows the problem, especially in the print out, then package, compress, and send it to me, and I'll try to get to the bottom of it and report a bug as needed.
Sincerely,
Matthew

Inappropriate?I sent this reply directly to your email account with sample PDF. This is a bit of a pesky problem. The fading image issue is a random occurrence. I have attached a PDF file showing issue. Look at the Uncle Ben's Rice, the Old Tyme Whole Wheat Bread and the Acme tomato sauce. This issue appears in the postscript file as well as the PDF. Let me know if this is helpful. In the meantime I will try to package a smaller file sample that has the problem.
