AIR applications and Flash ignore horizontal scrolling in OS X.
In OS X, there is system-wide support for multidirectional (horizontal and vertical) scrolling. On laptops, this is accessed by moving two fingers together on the touchpad. On any mac, this is accessible through the 2-dimensional scroll ball on the mighty mouse.
Flash/AIR recognizes the vertical component of this motion just fine, but completely ignores the horizontal component, even when interacting with a UI element that has both a horizontal and a vertical scroll bar.

Inappropriate?Hi Erik,
Is there any progress on this issue? And are there any workarounds for developers?
Thanks,
Tom

Inappropriate? So it's apparently been 7 months since this issue was reported and I still haven't seen any progress. Is this a priority at all?
I’m disappointed

Inappropriate?Sorry fellas - the bug is still kicking around internally - but it does not look like it is going to be addressed any time soon. There are issues with the Firefox plugin APIs, the legacy AS APIs, and interference with several platform APIs that unfortunately intertwine some mouse wheel and scrolling functionality. Getting all the dependencies unwound in a safe and cross-platform way is going to take some time. And unfortunately a bucket of higher priority items are keep this off the active TODO list.
