Help me enjoy cute videos of puppies (and everything else) on YouTube!
I'm experiencing frequent crashes when using the Adobe Flash player.
I suspect the problem occurs when watching full-motion video (eg YouTube, but others as well). Symptoms include: FireFox 3 hangs; Google Chrome occasionally shows me a "the following plugin has crashed: Shockwave Flash" message, and other times it locks up as well. I don't generally browse with IE.
One interesting symptom is that when watching YouTube videos, there are pops and crackles in the audio portion. These are not present when listening to music (eg Windows Media Player).
It also seems that some Flash advertisements cause the same problem, as some sites will crash on first page load. So it's possible it's something other than full-motion video.
I'm running XP Pro SP3 on a Lenovo ThinkPad T61 with 2 GB RAM, NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M, SoundMax Integrated Digital HD Audio. Drivers are up-to-date. I'd list FF extensions, but since the problem affects Chrome as well I'd rather not go down that road (no, I don't have the Lenovo Password Manager extension installed :-) ). Flash plugin version is 10.0 r22 according to FF (about:plugins).
And I've spent several months on-and-off searching for answers on the almighty Google.
Where would I begin to diagnose this problem?
