When printing a mission card the Mission text doesn't wrap so its cut off. 'Invite someone to Ice...' I like Ice but would rather have Ice Cream. I'm resubmitting this because the getsatisfaction page is acting stupid.
Maybe suggest a button to remove printed missions too.
I am made a mistake because I am dumb, but I want Akoha to help because the people who work there are smart. So I have been happily playing Akoha missions. Some have been confirmed, some not. I assumed that some people were simply not interested.
So I received a mission today via email. I had no physical card, a PDF, or an email note with the code for the mission. I went to confirm and I was told to enter my code. Yes, I guess I am that dumb. I assumed if I was getting the mission right in my inbox and being told to confirm my mission by hitting a link, I wouldn't need one.
Now here is where it gets a bit more interesting. I realize as a person SENDING a mission to another player, you do not have the code listed in your played missions, even if they have not yet been confirmed.
Now I often remember to give people a PDF, card or write down a code, but I do often forget. I don't worry about it, because I assume person will be able to confirm if they get an email. Also what happens if a person misplaces a card or has an apartment like mine where things are messy and get lost easily? Shouldn't I be able to say, "Hey X, I can't find my code, can you tell me what is is again?" and X be able to find the code in his or her list of unconfirmed missions, and tell me what it is?
At the very least, writing the code in the email that gets sent out would be extremely useful.
Next year (2010) will be the "international year of biodiversity". Would be nice if a couple of missioncards were spend on that topic!
More in general: "taking care for the environment" and "sustainable living" (in addition to the "carbonfootprint - cards" I saw).
I'm not sure how much you guys read this stuff, but as someone who occasionally does web application work, I have to say, your site is pretty awesomely done, on frontend and from what I can tell on the backend. I am impressed, very nice site!
Sidenote: I am trying to post this comment, but I'm finding your CAPTCHA difficult to read :(
Since you offer deck 4-packs, why not make sharing a deck with a friend an optional mission? so there would be a code on the receipt that could be entered... and then mailing a full deck to someone you think would play would spread the experience and you could watch the travels of those cards as well
After playing a mission or thinking of ideas for missions, I find that I want to start journaling about my own general thoughts, feelings, or perspectives on what playing forward means to me or how I think it's making the world a better place. I also see lots of news, blogs, and twitters about general do-gooding topics, and would like to jot about that.
Women love to express!
I've been finding that I go to my blog or Twitter to write these things when I'd actually just like to stay in Akoha and do that. Would help me find other like minded spirits in Akoha or just get some good conversations going.
The journaling feature would help with Akoha stickiness. I'm guessing though that this feature is "coming soon."..lol. Just thought I'd share how much that would get me and my friends to spend more time in Akoha :-)
On the "My Missions" page, I'd love to see the option to show unconfirmed missions only.
That includes both missions that have been played forward to me but I forgot to confirm and missions that I played forward but weren't confirmed by the recipient.
This would make it easier to keep track of "forgotten" missions.
I played a card through the mail: Montreal to Missouri. When I played it I marked the location as Montreal. It's been claimed, but the trail still shows Montreal. 1) should I have originally put the location as Missouri? 2) Is there a way to go back and change the location now that it's been claimed?
When I play a mission using Safari (latest version on mac OS X) the location map is not displayed properly. All that I see are the controls for the map.
I love the concept behind Akoha and played some missions and feel good that I've spread goodness around but I don't see/feel any caffeine factor, the thing that is gonna keep me buzzing and addicted to come back for more or to just hang out.Or perhaps, I'm just shallow and doing good is not reason enough...lol. But back to Maslow's hierarchy or Galaxy Quest, "What is it's motivation?"
After playing a mission, I often feel like, "So now what?" I don't want to play another mission but I do feel like hanging out a bit longer, but I have nothing really to do except stalk other players or submit ideas for new missions, at least to my knowledge. Perhaps you can give us tips as to what we can do while we're hanging out in Akoha.
What keeps other people coming back on a regular basis versus just a one or two time thing once the novelty wears off? Not saying doing good is a novelty but like many we get too busy in our lives and wrapped up that we have to be reminded to give back, share gratitude, or spread positivity. That's why I watch Oprah. She reminds me of those things.
I have no idea how this happened, but when a friend confirmed one of my missions and added a comment, it now looks like she played the mission forward to herself and the comment was added to the new mission.
I was excited to get my Akoha deck and was quick to set up my username and profile... Is it possible to change my username, or will I need to create a new account and "complete" all of my remaining missions with my new account in order to transfer my cards?
I know this couldn't be implemented right away or anything, but I think having the ability to set an expiration date on printed missions would be awesome. Here's why.
I played the "feed a blogger" card today to a blogger by the name of TeeCycle (he registered already an is in the system! :D). What he does on his blog is sell used T-Shirts for $7 and donates $1 from each sale to a specific charity. It's a pretty cool concept (and he has a cool blog).
While discussing Akoha (and the separation between offline and online activities...) he had an "Aha!" moment and said "I could mail thank you cards to T-Shirts buyers and get them on Akoha!" (then went on to slap me a high five).
On the drive home I thought about this some more and realized that doing that is awesome, but it could end up creating a lot of wasted mission IDs. The solution I came up with for that was (and this is just the initial state of the idea of course) was to make missions with an expiration date by somehow locking the mission ID in with a person's email address for a set time.
I don't know... Seemed like an idea worth sharing. :) I'll try to get the video of me giving him that card up in a day or so.
I was thinking about gluing a card to the inside of a book when I realized "Hey! A sticker MADE for this would be AWESOME!"
The give a book card is cool, but... I don't know. You know how it is when you give someone a book. You're trying to spread an idea that you're PASSIONATE about. So you wouldn't want to pass on "Tipping Point" only for it to get lost in a stack of books somewhere and some other book like "The New Adventures Miley Cyrus" passed on in it's place...
The other awesome thing about this is that it could be communicated on the sticker that even if you don't want to register to Akoha and all that, still play THAT book forward and explain Akoha to the next person.
This would encourage me to get my hands on a ton of other different kinds of books and "Play Them Forward."
WOAH! I just had the thought that a book could be released with an Akoha type system build into every single copy of the book. Either using Akoha or a custom kind of Akoha for the author (seems like Mr. Godin would like something like that). Wouldn't that be epic!? :D
