Some feedback on instructions
Some thoughts from my first experience with Akoha after receiving the Starter Kit in the mail:
You should put that comic from http://community.akoha.com/learn/ on the "How to play" page, or somewhere else that's prominent. It is the only place where I've actually understood what to do and how the game works. The current "how to play" is very conceptual and doesn't tell me _what to do_.
Looking forward to actually start playing cards, now that I kind of understand how to do it and why.
It's about the details of what to do, for one thing I wasn't sure who was going to input the code for a card I played - me or the other person? And what the "play it forwad" button meant on the website. I think I get it now - when I played a card I push the "play it forward" button next to the card and write a mission report, but I still don't feel completely confident that's how it's done. And I only get that (I think) from reading that comic.
Another piece of feedback while I'm at it: I spent several frustrating minutes trying to find a sign-up page before I understood that I was supposed to just enter the deck number at the front page. How was I supposed to know that the sign-up for an account would come after that? The images were not very clear, and the copy was confusing since I had a Deck, not a Mission, and I wasn't already playing like the text said. Maybe some copy that tells me exactly what to do, and gives me a hint of what will happen when I do? Something like "If you have a deck, enter the deck number to sign up for an Akoha account and claim your deck" which I know doesn't cover the case of claiming a deck when you already have an account, but how about targeting confused first-timers with some specific instructions?
Attaching a little skitching about my thoughts/frustrations my first time at the front page with deck in hand.
Oh well, if this sounds a bit frustrated, it's because I was frustrated when trying to check this out. I do look forward to exploring the game, and will hopefully come back with some less frustrated feedback soon. Thanks for the starter kit anyways! =)
cheers
