Gutenberg to Kindle?
I love Project Gutenburg. There are loads of titles on there I can download for free. The question is, can you import material from Project Gutenberg onto the the Kindle?

Inappropriate? The Kindle directly supports plain text files, and project Gutenburg offers plain text files for many of the books they offer.
You should be able to directly download the .txt files using the usb cable onto your kindle.

It's not quite so easy. 80 column text puts a cr/lf at the end of each line, and 2 at the end of a paragraph. So you have to write a little program that that takes out the inner cr/lf's. It's about a 10 minute job.
I use mine to read books on a Palm. I like it better than
the Kindle that I saw. One paragraph a screen!

Inappropriate? Each Kindle also comes with an email address. You can forward your txt file to your Kindle email address and it will auto-magically appear.

Inappropriate? This link talks about setting your Kindle email:

I forgot to mention one key point. It costs 10 cents to mail attachments to your kindle. I guess that's the cost of the processing. You can actually send .docs and other files and they will get converted to readable formats. I've heard of various results converting .pdf, which is not officially supported but apparently kinda works. -
Inappropriate?Check out feedbooks.com. They have many files in .mobi format, which the Kindle renders perfectly. Just hook the Kindle up to your PC and drop them into the books folder on the drive that your PC mounts.
