Arrow keys not working on Macbook
Hey!
The arrow keys on my Macbook (late 2007) suddenly stopped working yesterday, i.e. if I press them nothing happens at all.
Could it be a software issue? Mac is fully updated.

Inappropriate? Is the rest of the keyboard working fine, or has there been any other problems?

Inappropriate? The rest of my keyboard is fine. Only L,R, & D arrows don't respond to external input.

Inappropriate?Hi, I have a late iBook G4 running leopard, fully updated, and my left&right cursor keys have also stopped working! Up & down work fine, as does cmd-left or cmd-right to go to beginning/end of line (so I'm guessing it's not a hardware issue?).
I've checked that there are no keyboard shortcuts set for the left&right keys (in system prefs->keyboard).
Could be one of the updates apple have served recently?
I’m frustrated

I assume that it's a software issue, too; but how is it reversed? -
After a few more sporadic hours of googling this, I found something on the apple forums that answered it - Hyperspaces has just updated and it seems it's shortcuts are overriding the left/right arrows. Quit hyperspaces, all is well. Just got to wait for a fix, I guess. -
I just installed a new keyboard & it fixed my problem. I guess the other one just reached its limit. Thanks for the input. :D -
Inappropriate? Is 'Hyperspaces' part of a larger package? I don't recall installing it.
-
I do not have hyperspaces installed. I think this is a software problem also. Very annoying. Is there a keyboard that we can load that will fix the keys. I think it's related to an update that came out within the last 30 days. -
hyperspaces is not part of the OS - if you haven't downloaded and installed it yourself, it's not on your system.
Melanie, try to find out if it's hardware or software that's the problem e.g. does shift-arrow, cmd-arrow work? If yes, then it implies software.
Create a new user account (system prefs - accounts) and log into it, does the problem still happen? If yes, it implies it's hardware at fault. If no, it means that one of the preference files in your account is corrupt/broken.
Sorry, not sure what you mean by 'is there a keyboard we can load'
