iPod touch doesn't show up on computer or turn on!!
my iPod is all locked up. i bought the 2.0 software update and tried to restore my iPod touch. it got all the way to the end then said error 1604. i tried restarting my computer twice and now my iPod doesn't even show up in iTunes. i also tried re-downloading iTunes and it still won't show up. when i unplugged it all i got was a connect to iTunes pic. i looked for it under my computer and it isn't there either. i'm so mad because i've spent the last four hours trying different things. can anybody help?

Try to get the iPod into recovery mode (when connected to the computer and iTunes running) then the iPod should be recognized and it will enable you to restore it again.
1) Start your iTunes and connect your iPhone or iPod touch to your mac/pc.
2) Keep holding the sleep/wake and home button for about 10 seconds. Release the sleep/wake button, but keep holding the home button. you will hear some sounds.
3) If you did it correctly iTunes will tell you that it has detected an iPhone or iPod touch in recovery mode.
4) If you see the iTunes icon and cable on your iPhone, your device is not in DFU mode, but in recovery mode. Your device’s screen will be black when you are in DFU mode. I always have to try this several times so succeed.
Now you can restore it!

Inappropriate?ok i tried what u suggested, but when i clicked restore, it says software for this iPod is currently univailbel. Make sure you have the latest versions of iTunes and try again.
well i went to check for the latest version and i do have it. i have 8.0.1

Inappropriate?yeah. i had that same problem too. i just hooked it up to someones elses computer who had faster internet then me, downloaded it on their computer, and it was working again. i didnt do anything special. i actually just gave it to them for the night. they said they plugged it in, downloaded it, it automatically went onto the ipod and it was working fine again. sorry if it does not work for you. -

also if u have current itunes look for C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\usbaapl_AF109929C2381E41FEF454F3FEDAA257A9E85F92 instead of the one show in the forum (you'll know wat im talking about once u read it!!) hope it helps -
Inappropriate?get a car charger or a wall charger and give enough power to turn on then plug it in the computer its beacuse you programed it to not show up itunes when the ipod is pluged in

Inappropriate?pls help me 2:) my ipod touch 2.2.1 wont turn all the way on! it stops working after 20 sec. than shows a loading sign. after i leave it alone 4 a wile it turns white and restarts and does the same thing over and over....the last thing i did was try 2 restart it. plsssssss help me 2, also i jail broke it........

Inappropriate?i have an ipod touch 2.2.1 and i jailbroke it i got an app called logo me of cydia and after i chose a pic for the startup logo(if u dont know what i mean research the cydia app logo me) and then after the imige was set i presswed the flash button on the app like i thought i was meant to then i went back to my main springboard view and turned off the device now it wont tun back on or respond to anything so i did the dfu thing on itunes and it said that the uppdate is not avalible or somthing and it said to get the new itunes..... i have the new itunes so can anyone help me wtf should i do i dont think apple will help me so plz

Inappropriate?do what link tree says u do not have to restore it though wait till dfu mode is over over and it will sync i had to turn my ipod off and put it back in dfu mode before this worked again it will then take a long time to sync but will then work i know ur problem was 11 months ago but if you never fixed heres ur answer

Inappropriate?ok so heres the lowdown. my ipod touch 1g is running on the 3.0 software. its been a-ok for the past week and a half and has been running smotth. suddenly lastnight wen i went to mi friends house i painted the back of it green and it was still just dandy. i woke up andd it wouldnt turn on. so it was in the recovery mode thing where the usb cable is pointing up at itunes logo so i just said wtf and jplugged it in my laptop. its funny because my computer wont even make the sound that it makes when u plug it in and wont show up in itunes or my computer. i put it on my dock charger for my wall and the ipod made the charging noise and strated to charge. but y wont it show on on my laptop. im on a dell 1525 running vista basic 3 gbs of ram andan intel pentium dc processor if that even matters. is it my computers fault or is it the cable. damn im pissed

Inappropriate?did u already have it all set up on your computer and then put it in your laptop?just make sure u have everything backed up and then put it in recovery mode and restore it on your computer not your laptop

Inappropriate?OK sorta have the same problam. My very old first type of ipod has only been pluged into a computer once and all the other times was pluged into the wall. It has been 2 years sence i turned it on and still works great but i lost my origonal USB cord. So i went to Wallgreen and bought a dock that plugs it into the computer and it wont show up on i tunes and the PC wont regonize it. Please HELP! My email is clubpfreak@aim.com Thank You! :-)

hey nick. i have solved this simply by trying to connect to a different computer. once connected, restore your ipod. if the normal usb cable provided doesnt work, u can pick up a usb dock. that is what i used. your computer should read it, along with itunes. click on ur ipod and restore. hope this helped. any further problems for anyone email me at m.wal44@yahoo.com. i really hope this helped guys. and especially for you nick.

Inappropriate?hey, i pretty much had the same problem as stated in the question. but for me, when i went to recovery mode it asked to insert a disk. i did not recieve a disk with my ipod touch. i tried searching my hdd for some software i had for it, but it did not recognise it. if anyone could help it would be great.
