iPod Touch Timezone incorrect

My iPod Touch Gen 1 Timezone does not update correctly. After I travelled to another timezone and changed this accordingly on my laptop with which I'm syncing my device everything worked well. However, since coming back and changing the timezone back to my home time zone on this laptop my iPod does not change back.
Whenever I sync the iPod, the time changes to the right time for about 5 seconds during the beginning of the sync, but then switches back to the "wrong" timezone. When I try to manually change the timezone in Time & Date, the App crashes and it goes back to the Home Screen.
