My brand new MacBook Pro battery is only lasting for 2 hours instead of 4-6 hours. Help! What's wrong?
I have a new MacBook Pro, and I'm told that my battery life should be 4-6 hours out of the box, but I'm getting less than 2 hours when the battery is fully charged. What's going on?
My old Mac's battery was only lasting that long on a full charge, because it was so dead -- is it maybe because I did the whole "transfer files & settings" thing from that computer? Or is it something else? As far as I can tell from looking at the Activity Monitor, I'm not running anything that's putting any stress on the processor...
Help! Thanks.

Inappropriate?Same problem here! i talked to Apple support experts and suggested to send it back to them so they take a look at it fix it. I sent the machine but when they ship it back.. The problem remains the same; short battery life and a weird noisy fan..I don't know how we can trust Apple after that??

Short battery life and noisy fan sounds like you've got some application running that is using up all your CPU processing. Use the utility Activity Monitor (should be in Applications:Utilities) to see which application might be doing that, and you might find that solves your problem. To the general question of battery life, I've never found these batteries to hold more than 2-3 hours of battery life. I'm on my fourth battery in two years now, and that has been the case for every battery I've gotten. By the way, another great utility is CoconutBattery (http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconu...). It will tell you how much "life" you have left in your battery. Good stuff. -
Inappropriate? You're absolutly right Jeff, the noise that comes from the fan was caused by Adobe Acrobat printer. You know that the option of "save as PDF" is no longer supported in Leopard Snow. The printer kept sending a message to the processor that printing process is pending. When I checked disk utility application it showed me that Adobe Acrobat printer takes 81% of CPU!! I tried to delete all pending tasks but wouldn't delete or even to stop. What I did is I went ahead and deleted that application. The problem was solved, and I checked the battery cycles and it was 3 instead of 31 which was in the one that came with the MacBook Pro. I realized that I was mistaken and my judgement against Apple was wrong especially when the battery life indicator shows over 8 hours after a full charge. I hope my experience will help buddies with similar problem! Thank you Jeff for your reply.
