sorting outline and timeline by date
how to sort outline and timeline by date? every time I add things using outline they sit @ bottom.

Inappropriate?There is no way to sort items in Planning module yet. You can reorder items the way you like and that order will be preserved.
We have not implemented sorting to avoid complications. Imagine a milestone due on 21st October, with 2 tickets. First ticket due on 5th October, second on 20th. First ticket has 3 tasks due on 2nd, 3rd and 3rd. Second ticket has 2 tasks - due on 3rd and 15th October. We can not simply flatten the data and display it. We got to preserve the hierarchy. At the same time it may look weird if all items were not sorted.
This is why we don't have sorting available!

I understand what you are saying however there is not much point having a gantt chart that is not organised by due date.
What I am asking is to simply organise the milestones by due date, just like they are under the milestones tab. Let's not worry about the tickets, just the milestones.
Furthermore, when I am working in outline view I really need to see (and I believe everyone) what happens before and what happens next by scrolling up (before) and down (next). Having to twist my brain really removes a lot to the power of the module.
What do other think?

Will check and ensure milestones on Gantt chart are sorted by due date. As for Outline - we have a feature that allows reordering milestones - people had demanded that feature earlier, and that's why we removed the sort on due date and kept it based on the manual order :)
Is it time to remove that feature?? Let us think a bit more and come to a conclusion.. -
Inappropriate?We added an option in Administration to select whether you want Milestones to be sorted by date always - defaulted to yes. So even if they were reordered in Planning module, they would still show ordered by date when you save the plan.
Gantt chart picks up the same order as Outline. Multiple project Gantt charts order projects by date as well.
