Have conversations go forward in the time line as well as back.
When you double click on a Tweet it shows the chain of replies that led up to the tweet. However, it is possible that there were later tweets in the chain. These later additions to the conversation won't show up unless you double click on a later tweet.
Of course adding the "future" tweets to the conversation wouldn't be that simple (as the current conversation is stitched together via reply_ids), but it might be able to be done by running a search for the reply id of the tweet double clicked on and moving forward from there.

Inappropriate?I've thought about this too, I think it would be neat, although I'm not sure how much harder it is to find other posts that have replied to the current one.
I’m happy

Inappropriate? If possible, this would bring Tweetie to a whole new level of awesome for me. The problem I can see is multiple people replying to the same tweet. With the proposed "look-ahead" feature, Tweetie might not know what it should display.

Inappropriate?I don't think this is technically possible. When you reply to a tweet, Twitter assigns your message an "in reply to" value that references the ID of the first tweet. But no info about the original tweet is changed.
Even if it were possible, what would happen when two or more people replied to the same tweet? What would the conversation thread look like with all those branches? -
Inappropriate? To me, this is probably the only feature I feel that Tweetie really lacks (not that the other clients have it, but this would really make the app powerful and more than worthwhile!). I'd like to be able to see the responses and conversations generated from any public tweet!
-
Inappropriate?I could see doing it for people you are following, whose tweets have already been downloaded into the client, but it's probably nigh impossible to try to search out anyone who replied to any tweet.
-
Inappropriate? With current Twitter API, it isn't possible to trace conversations forward arbitrarily. Twitter is aware that people would like to be able to search for tweets that are replies to a given tweet, but it's not available yet.
But you absolutely could do it among tweets that you have already collected from your timeline and mentions! See this topic: http://getsatisfaction.com/atebits/to...
