Missing Avatars on Tweetie
Why are certain avatars missing from Tweetie when they appear normally on the web version of Twitter?

Inappropriate?I found a way to solve my problems. If you drap your picture into iPhoto and change the pixels to 400 x 400 or less the picture will work. Unfortunately, this may require you to delete your tweetie profile account in the preferences tab, restarting, and then re-adding your account name under tweetie preferences... Difficult, but resolveable.

Inappropriate?My avatar was 280 x 280 pixels but still wasn't showing up. I found that simply deleting the current picture and uploading the exact same file fixed the problem for me. No idea why, but it worked! -

Inappropriate?Check out the link below - seems twitter is doing a data cleanup project and there have been problems resulting in images not being displayed. Should be resolved in 48 hours:

Lukens, try to resize the picture to 400 x 400. open Tweetie and delete your current 'account' * don't worry this won't delete your twitter account, it just gives you an empty tweetie application. - with the account deleted, restart your computer. After restart create a new account and insert the picture that is AT MOST 400 x 400 and restart again. I had to fiddle with the delete account/restart a couple of times, and on the 3rd try it worked, and my avatar showed up. I emailed Tweetie previous to this, and the reply said that the only stipulations are the above said '400 x 400' If that doesn't work, then I would try to email them directly yourself to see if you are having some other type of error. Inappropriate?Thanks for the advice David, but I shouldn't have to go all through that so that an Avatar that is accepted and shown in Twitter (and all other Twitter apps I have used) shows up in Tweetie. The app should simply support it.
I certainly can't be bothered doing that when Tweetie is still not my main Twitter app (which it won't be until it supports groups or I can find the time and inclination to set up some new Twitter accounts as a groups workaround). -

I got Jeb to re-upload, and now it's fine.
I notice that I frequently get blanks if I'm offline and reading the backlog. Could be that sometimes Tweetie gets stuck and thinks that it's got the image but doesn't really... -
Inappropriate?I finally broke down and asked the 2 people who's avatars weren't showing up to re-upload them. One of them complied and theirs now shows up. The other one still doesn't but I think he still has the same huge pic that he did before.
Sorry that doesn't help you Philip but it did seem to be the cause of my problem. I wish Twitter would fix those that are still too large.

Inappropriate?Same problem. Changed my avatar on Twitter last night (7/17/09) to 128x128 96k image. Shows fine on the web and Nambu desktop. Blank on Tweetie for iPhone. Tried re-installing Tweetie, deleting and re-adding image, nothing works. All Avatars except mine show in Tweetie. Any ideas?1 Comment Add a comment

Inappropriate?It seems with everyone changing their avatars for Halloween today, Tweetie for the Mac can't cope with it. I haven't noticed the same problem with my other Twitter clients though.
