Support for bit.ly accounts (not just bit.ly shortening)
I would love it if I could input my bit.ly username and password so that when Tweetie shortens a URL for me, I can also go and track the traffic to my link.

So you've probably seen that we've implemented this in Tweetie 2.0 by now. It will be in 2.0 for mac as well :)

There is a pretty glaring problem with this implementation.
Although Tweetie does allow people to configure their login/API key and create shorturls using bit.ly/j.mp, any URLs created through the API do not appear in the user's history (since tweetie doesn't append the "history=1" parameter in its call).
This means the only way a shorturl can be traced to the account is by viewing it's info page manually.
I’m conflicted.

+1.
Ability to set in Tweetie app own user API key which is provided in http://bit.ly/account/ would be my feature request.
Thanks, Loren.

Same goes for tr.im accounts. I'd also like to be able to choose the trimmed URL (the "Custom URL" field in tr.im, for example), but maybe I should file a separate issue about that...

Unfortunately tr.im just shut down. The best we can hope for is support for the bit.ly API now. -
Inappropriate?I think this is a good idea. Some tweeters would find the tracking ability in bit.ly very useful. Great idea @simulacrum.
I’m excited
-
Inappropriate?Another one for this idea here. Would like to use my own tr.im account.

In fact, Loren says it's coming. -
Ashponders, any update on when this is coming? Loren said it was to be implemented 4 months ago. Thanks. -
Inappropriate?Thank god this is coming. This is one of the major things I'm looking for in this app.

Inappropriate?Something I have done on Tweetr (my twitter client) is that when you paste a URL it AUTOMATICALLY shortens it.
This design pattern works like this.
1. Paste URL, if it has http (then find this URL and shorten it with the selected service.
2. Because this is asynchronies the user can cancel or reverse the shortening by pressing "command+z" (you need a visual element to say this)
3. Shortening should use the default service select in the drop down.
OR. Simply "command+option+v" to paste a URL and auto shorten it?
Thanks guys, but am pretty amazed at the quality of Tweetie.
John.

Inappropriate?Just the same as previous requests. Please consider the popular hootsuite
I’m excited

Inappropriate?Yes, having the tracking from Bit.ly is very useful, so having that work with an actual Bit.ly account would be great,
-
Inappropriate?I'd also love inclusion of HootSuite's ow.ly shortening service.
I’m waiting to be excited...
-
Inappropriate?bit.ly user api should be implemented. however, url shorteners with a frame/topbar like ow.ly definitely sucks. please do not consider to implement such services. they are waste of time.
I’m excited

Inappropriate?+1 for this, as my twitter accounts are manly used for posting links to my blog or site it'd be good to track hits.
I’m excited

Inappropriate?bit.ly has an "import URLs from before I had an account" but it doesn't appear to import Tweetie URLs.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?YES, PLEASE!
A huge +1 for this! -
Inappropriate?Yes, this would be amazing. I've got this API key. Let me use it!
I’m hopeful this will get implemented.
-
Inappropriate?100% agreement. The shortening built in to Tweetie is so tantalizing, but wasted on me personally due to the lack of this feature. Also, each Twitter account should be able to have it's own bit.ly account.
-
Inappropriate?I've started using tr.im, as they've added a feature that will scan twitter feeds for tr.im urls, and will add them to your tr.im account automatically.

Inappropriate?Well, tr.im is now done, so this functionality would be really great.
I’m sad this hasn't been implemented yet
-
It's back! Yay. Although, it's hard to trust them again after this. It seems like bit.ly has enough funding to be around for a long, long time. -
Inappropriate?Would love to see this for Bit.ly.
-
Inappropriate?I was going to post this when I realized that someone else already did. It took a little while to type so I'll post it as a reply to the original topic.
Bit.ly (link shortening service) provides real-time link tracking for all links shortened through a logged in account. When you use the Shorten with bit.ly bookmarklet, the link is tracked so you can see how many clicks it gets and where the visitors are coming from. Tweetie already has link shortening through bit.ly but does not support the use of an API key to link Tweetie with your bit.ly account. For a blogger that wants to keep track of page views, this would be a really cool feature. An example of API implementation is under the advanced options section when creating a Twitterfeed at http://twitterfeed.com/
I’m anxious for this to be implemented

Mums the word until we've released Tweetie 2.0 for iPhone. I can't talk about what we're doing or what we're not doing. But I can tell you I am excited! -
Inappropriate? What we do know is that it's gonna be the f*cking sh*t.
And that it will not be a piece of f*cking sh*t
I asked about the beta for the mac version
how about for the iPhone version?

I noticed this. I was wondering why people were using version 0.9 again. I saw a blogger at Mashable posting back and forth with Bigbird and Tweetie. How much longer??? -
We're doing very well with our private beta, and once we have things the way we like them, we'll release. It's done when it's done :) -
I can haz beta invite for @fitzroy? -

Excellent point, and not only that but if someone else shortened the same link using Tweetie, then the link data is aggregated for everyone who shortens it using the same client. I had to switch to Tr.im to shorten links on my iPhone so that I can get data. -
Inappropriate?Yeesh that is a pretty glaring omission! Isn't having it in your history the whole point of tying it to your account? Is there any other reason?
I’m frustrated.
-
Inappropriate? So, how exactly does this work? I entered my API and there's no history on my bit.ly account... what's the point of the API then? I thought this was implimented in T2, seems like the same functionality (shortening and having to manually track) as T1... am i missing something?
I’m disappointed
