Sent to my local news paper about Uverse. I hope they publish this.

I have tried to get U-Verse three times.

Twice at my previous home. Both times they cut off the DSL and never came back or called to let me know what was wrong.

• The first time I was out of town while my mother let them work. All my equipment was off line for five days because of that.

• The second time U-Verse customer service told me it wasn’t their problem and that it would take three days to have a DSL tech come out on a “high priority” trouble ticket. I had to call the person who re-connected my DSL the first time. Good thing I had that guys cell phone. He was very helpful and understanding... then again he worked for the DSL and Phone group, not U-Verse.

The third time is at my new apartment. First off they didn’t have my address in the system. The building next door (that I should have moved in to) was in the system and could get there new 18meg internet service. My new place didn’t exist. They had to get a trouble ticket open to check it out. That seemed reasonable. A few days later my address was in the system.

I placed my order and was scheduled for two weeks out. I waited for them on EASTER SUNDAY!!!! The tech showed up and told me they didn’t have a signal to my house. How did my address get placed in the system if I can’t get a signal to my house? He opened a trouble ticket to fix the problem. Somehow he’s not allowed to look at it himself or call someone who can. I just wasted my Easter Sunday afternoon.

It’s been a week today and I have not received one phone call. I just got an email from U-Verse letting me know that my installation order will expire on the 27th and I need to hurry up and give them THREE days to pick from so that they can decide if they want to show up during one of those windows. No phone call, no sorry for the trouble, just an email telling me to respond on their web site if I want the privilege of their internet service.

Every day for the past month I have had to go back to my old house and work from there during the day. Then I get to come home and have no internet connection other than my phone. I’m willing to bet that I will get a bill for the full month of service and I’m sure that I would never get my deposit back if I tried to cancel.

My business partner got U-Verse about two months ago at his new house. It took them a week after the install date to get it working. They had at least one tech out every single day. He order a nearly $200 package and was able to get people there every day until it worked correctly. I wonder if my situation is so bad because I only ordered internet. Perhaps I would be higher up on their list if I made out a car payment sized check to them every month? I’m supposed to pay an installation fee for this mess because I didn’t order TV? I run a small business and am a single father. I don’t have time for TV and I don’t have time for this crap!

I wish Verizon was able to run fiber in Arlington. I have never liked their customer service, but they seem to get the installs and products rite. I think their advantage over AT&T lies in NOT advertising a FiOS product in an area until they are actually prepared to deliver. After all, you don’t have to deal with their customer service if the product is installed correctly and works properly. AT&T just wants to show off how many suckers they can trick in to signing up for U-Verse

I’m a very patient person. My patients has been tempered by raising a kid and building a business. They have officially gotten under my skin. I’m taking time out of a perfectly good Sunday morning to write an email to a news paper in hopes that you can help. At this point I’m prepared to just cancel my order if nothing gets done in the next few days. I’ll simply have AT&T proper move my business DSL line from my old home to my new one. U-Verse can shove it. I hope they develop 100% monthly churn for a while. That should get their heads out of their asses.

PS – Their T1 guys also rescheduled an install for one of my clients in Dallas. The irony made me crack up, but the situation doesn’t actually approach being funny.
