I have a project to develop some social networking elements for WordPress. (One facet is to use your WordPress blog to host your own portable social network. The other extends this for MU, giving WordPress some lightweight social network fu.)

Inappropriate?A number of these third-party services like MyBlogLog and SezWho are trying to imbue social networking fu in a distributed way. MyBlogLog is apparently opening up their API, and this could potentially help build out some interesting social networking features.
