Inappropriate?Hi Anita,
There are a number of shapes available in the Button Shape widget. If you add one to a wireframe, right-click, and use the Edit Button Shape menu you can see the available shapes. There are also some additional shapes in the Flow library in the widgets pane that can be used on wireframes as well.
To add other shapes, you can copy and paste from most programs including Visio directly into Axure RP to create an image of the shape. If you create the shapes as masters you can essentially create your own library of widgets. You can find out more about masters here http://www.axure.com/p101_4.aspx.
We haven't published any additional widget/master libraries yet, but we plan to continue expanding the widget set and drawing tools in Axure RP so if you have any specific requests, please let us know. We'll be listening here, and you can also email support@axure.com.
Thank you,
Victor

Inappropriate?I really like Axure but it would be good if there was a way users could add to the existing set of widgets. In particular, the ability to import stencils from Visio or Omnigraffle would be awesome.
In the short term, it would be helpful to see the contents of the recently-released Yahoo design stencil kit added:
http://developer.yahoo.com/ypatterns/...
And perhaps Michael Angeles stencils, originally for omnigraffle, if he's agreeable:

I've started using axure for a project and the small widget library is a real problem. Something like the Yahoo library would be great. Importing widgets (as editable widgets! not images!!) from other programs would be the bomb - I'm sure there are other UI people like myself who have an extensive custom library set up. Importing as images is not useful at all. -
Thank you. We are planning to extend the widget set that comes with Axure RP.
Loren Baxter has published some patterns with a .rp file here http://www.acleandesign.com/2008/09/a....
You can use File->Import RP File to import his masters into your file. This is also being discussed here http://axure.com/cs/forums/thread/328.... -
Inappropriate?Luke Perman and I have launched a GPL-licenced library of Axure RP masters. We have been working on this since the beginning of the year, but it's still early days. Please join our Google group for news of future developments:

We changed our name! AXLIB can be found at http://groups.google.com/group/axlib -
Inappropriate? Here are all the currently available libraries of widgets:
A Clean Design's Library
Ian Fenn / Luke Perman's Open Source Library
Ari Feldman's OSX Masters
Axure's Official Masters
960px Grids from Userfocus

Inappropriate? It's funny reading my post from months back. Little did I know that months later I'd be participating in the production of a design pattern library for Axure RP.
Loren, I'm grateful for the mention but just a small addition:
AXLIB is an open source initiative to create a robust library of design patterns for use with Axure RP. While Luke Perman and I created and currently manage the library, we do see it as a community-driven initiative and could see others manage it in future. So, while we're grateful for the personal credit, we'd prefer if the library were just known as AXLIB to reflect the community ownership. :-)
Also, the project homepage is cuurently http://groups.google.com/groups/axlib - I'd prefer it if this address could be used as it may encourage people to contribute to the project.
Thanks to the kindness of David Travis from Userfocus Ltd, the 960px Grids will be absorbed into version 1.1 of AXLIB due out later this month.
All the best,

Ah, sorry about the names, GetSatisfaction doesn't allow comment editing but I will update it on the blog post.
I think you might have had a typo on the group address - it's http://groups.google.com/group/axlib
Great work as always! -
Inappropriate?I was all set to dive into Axure but the lack of support for customizable widgets and stencils has me really put of with the package. It's great that I can create interactions within the application itself, and that it automates some of the tasks of developing specifications, but if I can't implement my own stencils - that really put the damper on things.
I’m annoyed

The button shape widget has a number of shapes available in it. Sometimes you can put them together to create a desired effect. You can also import any images. We're considering adding more support for drawing vector stencils. -
I'm not sure what you mean by 'implement my own stencils'... With AXLIB we've essentially done just that - we've created a collection of masters made up from widgets and images where appropriate. Do you mean import stencils from another program, perhaps? -
