Better FB Stories from Brighkite - Tiny Preview Sucks
Is there anyway that I can have Brightkite post a larger image as a Facebook story rather than the tiny version? Also since Facebook already offers enough privacy controls BK's become redundant. I'd like the option to allow my FB friends to automatically see the amount of detail that my BK friends can. It is critical for BK updates to look better and be more digestible in FB and Twitter since for most this is the primary way that our friends and contacts will see them. BK, take down the BK wall and help us share our info with friends using more ubiquitous services!

Inappropriate?Hi supernitin, part of that is due to Facebook's recent redesign. They basically took away the option for one-line and full stories and replaced them with the short stories that you see. We are looking into this to see what we can do.
We have plans to let you treat FB and other services as a friend/trusted friend, but we don't have an ETA on that right now.
We agree that the Facebook sharing could use a lot of improvements and we definitely appreciate the feedback.

Inappropriate?I can understand that FB's redesign imposes certain limitations. However, there are improvement you can make now. For example when I post a note the note should be front and center. You first post "Nitin post @" and then have the hyper linked location. It is not until 2 lines that you show the note which is in light gray and falls into the background.
I am sure there are some improvements you can make within the constraints of the current redesign.

Inappropriate?I hope to see some improvement in this area also. Brightkite updates on Facebook do not seem to show up well at all from the Facebook iPhone client. It seems to just say "Name has posted a note @ wherever" and not actually show any useful info. I know, this is partly Facebook's problem (and I admit Facebook has become more and more confusing to me), but if there's any way Brightkite could improve that, it would be great.
supernitin also has a point that the visibility for your actual note on Facebook is quite poor.
Maybe an option to post as a status update on Facebook instead of a note?8 Comments

We agree, there is a lot of room for improvement with the Facebook sharing. We plan to tackle this as soon as we finish a few bigger items on our to do list.
You do have the option to share all updates as a status instead of a wall post, you can find these under Account Settings -> Sharing. -
Oh, hah, you're right, and apparently I already set my account that way. Although, checking my Facebook page, I think it's kind of odd that brightkite seems to cut off my status after a certain number of characters. Fairly sure Facebook doesn't have that short of a limit?

It truncates it because of the link that gets tacked on the end. That's something we have plans to improve.

Yes, but even with the link, it seems that Facebook should be able to take more characters? Or is Brightkite just limiting to 140 characters by default? I would also like to see the same customization options for Facebook statuses that are available in the Twitter settings.

We limit to 140 and adding customizations is one of the improvements we have planned.

Are there plans to increase the limit when sending to Facebook? Seems silly to truncate if the service doesn't require it.

We do not. We keep the character limit at 140 for consistency and so that people can update over SMS.

I don't see the logic there, since my update isn't bigger than 140 characters, it's just the extra link brightkite tacks on. But I suppose I'll be satisfied when I can customize the link away.
