In Route to . . .
Seems you need away to say you have left a location or perhaps are in route to another.
I messaged someone yesterday who I did not notice was at that location two days earlier (fortunately for me he worked there so he there at the time) but clearly it begs the question of how to deal with I was there but I am not there now and in fact I am on my way somewhere else.
Just a thought

Inappropriate?Hi Firqby - Great idea. We are additionally considering being able to check into public transit. So you could check into a certain train/bus route and communicate with others en route.
The company thinks
this is one of the best points

Inappropriate?Have you guys considered allowing posts while not checked in? At first thought, this may seem impractical or stupid, but I had use it for the other day, and allows for better timing of location(s).
For example, if I'm traveling (on the road, train or whatever), I'm technically not checked in anywhere, but I'd still like to make a post stating I'm on the way somewhere. Get the idea?
I’m excited

John, we don't really have any plans to allow posts while not checked in. You could check in at city or state level to send an update that you are in transit. You can also check in at highways and interstates to post updates. Hope that helps some. :) -
Inappropriate?yes, like check-out. i might post a note or picture from "somewhere in las vegas" for example. just a general location. that would be great. :)

Hi Kristen. You can check in at city level..or state level and that would accomplish this. So for example text @Las Vegas, NV to check in at city level or check in from the web by entering Las Vegas NV in the top search bar and then click the check in button on the Las Vegas page. -
thanks! so when i leave my house, i should just check in @las vegas, nv until im somewhere else worth checking into. that makes sense :) -
Inappropriate?Hi, just wondering if this is still in your pipeline? At the moment I am sitting on a train fram A to B and it would be nice if I could check in "On train from A to B"
When I read the latest blog post I thought that this was what the poster had done? http://blog.brightkite.com/2009/05/11... -
Hi Jody, we're still on the fence about this and actually we have some changes planned that might eliminate the need for it. You should see more progress in the coming weeks.
What @chipd did in the blog post was just post at his location that he was flying DEN -> RNO, see here: http://brightkite.com/objects/dde7b97... -
Thanks for the feedback and the clarification on what @chipd did. Looking forward to seeing what's new in a few weeks time then!
