Not cross posting to Twitter?
I posted a note on a site I have not visited in Brightkite. But I expected that the post would be reposted to Twitter.

Inappropriate?Stowe,
We don't post "about" posts (posts to a place without being checked in there) to Twitter...we might add that as an option though.

Some more clarification on that: we felt that since Twitter is "What are you doing?", it wouldn't be appropriate. Of course, you might see it differently ;) -
Martin - Posting from a location without checking in there need not necessarily be a post "about" that place. I might want to post updates while I am traveling from A to B, without really checking into the locations on the way. That would definitely qualify as "What are you doing?" posts! ;) -
Inappropriate? After checking in, does a photo post to that location also count as an "about" post, which wouldn't be cross posted to twitter?
I often post photos, only, to twitter via Twitpic. I was hoping my pic to Brightkite would also cross post to twitter. How should I accomplish this?
I’m confused, possibly...

Inappropriate?I'm confused - I thought once you checked in to a place, any notes you posted from there on in (pictures included) were automatically "about" that last check in place. Am I wrong??? What's the difference between an "about" post and a non-about post???
I’m confused

Chris, "about" posts are notes and photos that you can post to a location without actually being checked in there. To do that, you would just visit that location's place page and click the "Post a note" or "Post a photo" button. For instance, I could go to the Paris, France place page and post photos of a past trip I took, etc. Since these updates aren't about what you are *currently* doing, they will not send out notifications or share to Twitter, but they will show in your user stream. Now non-about posts are just normal notes and photos that you submit while you are currently at a location and they post to where you are currently checked in. Since these are real-time updates, they will share to Twitter and notify your friends when they are posted. I hope that helps some. :) -
Inappropriate?Oh, awesome. I didn't know you could do "about" posting when not checked in (actually, just hadn't bothered to look), but that makes sense, and the sharing works as I would expect it to. Thanks for the response and explanation :)
I’m thankful
