searching these places north of dublin all end up with "Rathcore" - which is way off the mark.
I'm just trying to placemark where my sister lives, north of Dublin, in Co. Meath. I've tried searching on the county, and various towns, and all I end up with is "Rathcore". Co. Meath would be good, Skreen better, Ashbourne, Navan, and Kells would be fine. And there's the "Hill of Tara" nearby, a very ancient site... I could give latitude & longitude if need be... please advise.

Inappropriate?Hi reechard, we pull all of our location data from Google Maps and it looks like their API is returning weird results for certain searches. I'm not sure there's much we can do, but we will look into this problem.
I tried coordinates for a couple of the places you mention, and they return this place: http://brightkite.com/places/c90418a6..., which is probably not any better. You'll notice there's a blank space where some information is missing, so there's definitely something wonky going on there.
I know this is a frustrating problem, so hopefully there will be something we can do on our end.
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate?Thank you for the prompt reply! May I suggest hooking in to the "edit placemark" feature in Google maps? I had to edit a placemark just the other day for a restaurant in SF...
Or, as I said, as a last resort you could support lat. and long. input to the search.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Lesley, did you realize that you can "search" on latitude and longitude? That works around the glitches in search I'm having with Ireland.
I’m relieved

Yes, I do know about coordinates and I did test some of those after you reported this problem, but they weren't behaving much better than the regular places for me. But I'm glad you got them to work for you. :) -
Inappropriate?Does the search function basically have all the same functionality as the Google Maps API search functions? As in, can I search by decimal and degree based coordinates?

Hi Jonathan, we support coordinates in this format: 39.762388, -104.982315.
