Inappropriate?Brenderous, if you send commands to 80289 do you get any response?
-
Inappropriate?Unfortunately no. I've been trying a few times a day with both numbers but nothing has worked yet. It says my number is confirmed and I still receive SMS notifications just fine. The notifications have no reply number however.

Inappropriate?If it helps, I'm using a blackberry pearl 8130

Inappropriate?Unfortunately Canadian numbers are kind of tricky, for some people it works just fine while for others it won't work at all and then there are people in-between like you. The only real solution is for us to set up a Canadian SMS number, which is something we will eventually do but I can't give you any sort of ETA. In the meantime you can try using m.brightkite.com or even mobile email (guide here: http://brightkite.com/help/email_guide) to check in and post while you're on the go. Very sorry we can't be of more help.

Inappropriate?Brenderous, looks like you and I will just have to sit tight until Brightkite gets a Canadian shortcode up and running. And given that Twitter canned theirs in Canada because of the horrid ways our telcos were ripping them off, it's probably more of an "if" question rather than a "when".
I’m pissed off at the state of Canadian mobile communications

Inappropriate?I am in the same boat: Same telco., same situation, same problem.
It would be wonderful to have some legitimate SMS support for Canada, but like Chris mentioned above, Canadian telcos are pretty ridiculous and I could see many problems involved with setting up a Canadian shortcode.
I don't imagine there has been any progress in this area as of late, but I look forward to a time when SMS support for Canadians might be a reality.
I’m anxious for SMS support in the Great White North

We haven't had any progress yet, but we continue to talk with the carriers to see if we can work out a reasonable deal with them.
