Hi James,
Gotcha. The box is unchecked again because the DLL failed to load/register properly. Since it's an experimental feature, we will look into fixing this in a future release.
In the interim, you can try registering the DLL manually:
1. Open an elevated command prompt (or open a cmd window as an administrator.)
2. Go into the BumpTop folder in Program Files.
3. If in x86 XP/Vista, do "regsvr32 BtShExt.dll" . If you're running x64, run the same command INSIDE the x64 folder in the BumpTop folder. You shouldn't receive any errors at this point.
4. Log off and log back on.
5. Try re-enabling the feature in Settings now.
6. In Explorer, go into the View menu, Toolbars, and enable the BumpTop toolbar.

Inappropriate?Hi there,
Could you explain the problem in more detail? What folder are you trying to Bump? Does the Bump This Folder icon show up in the Explorer toolbar? Or does that not appear at all? Are there any error messages when you click the button? Or just nothing happens at all?
-
Inappropriate?Hey Justin,
I don't get the icon at all in Windows Explorer. No options at all. The only time I see the option is in Settings. I click the check box and click Apply, then close. When I open Settings again the check box is unchecked.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Thanks Justin,
Looks good now. I did have to reg. that dll.
F.Y.I. to all. Instead of a reboot just open Task Manager. Stop the explorer task. Click New Task and just enter the word "explorer". Does the same thing but in less time.

Inappropriate?Hi James,
Good to hear. Yup - our installer (earlier betas) used to kill Explorer.exe during setup but we observed some strange behaviours sometimes, especially when we updated the shell extension. The logoff and/or reboot solution is the safest. =)
We've observed some inconsistencies here - the BTF did not work in some folders that the current logged-in user did not have permissions to - but we haven't really isolated the problem down to get it fixed. -
Inappropriate?Yea good call on the reboot.
That kinda makes sense about it not working when user's rights are restricted. It appears that BTF makes a cached copy of the folder. I guess you'd at least need read and execute rights on any folder for this feature.
Anyway I just downloaded this today. Looks pretty cool so far. Looks like it's using 90 to 100MB on my system. A little fat but I can see why it would be. I'm glad they just upgraded me to 4GB!
I’m happy

Inappropriate? As i said the folder was Program Files in my own language. Nothing happens when i try to click the Bump this Folder icon. And no it isn't on the explorer toolbar
-
Hi Jon - can you follow the instructions I posted above to James and registering the DLL manually to see if it resolves the problem? -
Inappropriate?I had the same problem but I fiwed it registering the dll file. Now I have the button "Bump This Folder" but when I press it nothing happens. Any idea why?
I'm running Windows 7, nothing else to complain about.

Inappropriate?I have the same problem and followed all the steps exactly and the button still does not show up in my explorer. There isnt even a bumptop toolbar option !
I’m sad

Inappropriate?Pandash,
We're aware of the problems with this feature - and we'll be working on improving it's stability and reliability in upcoming updates. We haven't yet been able to reproduce the problem consistently on testing machines.
