BumpTOP won't start. Any help?
Hi!
I've downloaded the newest version of BumpTop. After installation just a black box opens up. I think this used to be the splash-screen. It disapears, but no BumpTop GUI shows up. When I click it in the lower-right corner my Icons hide, but no 3d desktop...
I already checked and unchecked some of the options, but nothing happens.
I uninstalled it and reinstalled it but I just can't get it running.
My System:
Vista 64bit ultimate and plenty of power ^^ (crysis runs ok on dx10, so BumpTop should be able to run at least slow ;) )
Any idea welcome.
Chris

Inappropriate?same thing here... vista 64 and Aero doesn't seem to work fine with BumpTop... for some reason, Bumptop can't "draw" the 3d desktop(even the bumptop logo at start)
the program works... you are even able to move the icons and click and do anything... but of course.. you can't see what you're doing.. so it is not much of a functuality... when you desable the Aero (Personalization -> Window Color and Appearance -> Open classic appearance properties for more color options and than choose for ex. Vista Basic) everything works fine... but nevertheless vista is ugly this way, so there is no point of doing all that... Bumptop version should be 1.05 build 3038 but the about box says 1.0 Build 3007...
provide us with some more information about this... i do think that it is a mayor problem and many of us will have it... -
Inappropriate?Several points:
A new VIP/update will be made available this week. Users on VIP builds will get upgraded to this build, and we'd love to have you test this update!
1) We're seeing a few crash reports being submitted around this start up problem. If you're experiencing the problem, PLEASE enter your email address into the email box - this allows us to follow up and suggest potential workarounds, or to get more information about the problem.
2) We're seeing 1 user who has discovered an issue with the sticky notes: BumpTop crashes when a sticky note which contains only 1 character is saved. To start BumpTop properly, you must delete this sticky note.
A fix has already been implemented in the upcoming VIP release.
3) Build numbers are out of alignment with the 3007/3038 build. If you're not getting update notifications, you have the latest build. We'll have this fixed in the next VIP release.
4) BumpTop is fully compatible with Aero and Vista/7 in x64. If you're having issues with this, please post up more information about the video card driver you're using.
5) If your thumbnails are not loading up (black squares) - build 3038 has issues with PDF thumbnailing when Adobe Acrobat 9 or newer is installed. This is due to a change in Adobe Acrobat. While we have a fix for the upcoming release, try uninstalling Acrobat 9 and installing Acrobat 8 to see if this resolves the problem. You can also move all the PDF icons off your desktop to see if this allows BumpTop to properly load textures.
If you continue to see this problem, please send feedback via the tray icon, including your email address so we can follow up and get more information from you. -
Inappropriate?Video driver:
The WDDM 1.1 drivers included in Windows 7 builds do not appear to provide the necessary OpenGL support for BumpTop. We've seen these "black screen" issues resolved when the display driver for Vista is installed, manually, as per our drivers page:

Inappropriate?i have to say i am stunned... :) i tried to "update" my drivers and in the dialog, where you have to pick the location for the drivers to be searched in i choosed "Let me pick my drivers manually" and than i simply selected the latest(the driver i was already using) without having to "have a disk" and after the installation, everything was fine... i so it seems that there is something in the setup installation of nvidia that screws with BumpTop... could be a registry entry or something like that.. i don't know...
thanks for the help.. can't believe that it worked... but in the future ... try finding out where the problem is... couse i don't think that nvidia will do something about it :)
