Error writing to MSVCP80.dll during install on Windows 7 x64
During installation I get an error writing to MSVCP80.dll. Googling the error shows nothing. All updates are installed with latest graphics driver. Windows 7 x64 build 7000.

Inappropriate?Hi there,
Your systems should have the VS redistributable (which msvcp80.dll is a part of), but can you try downloading the following package and installing to make sure all your dlls are in order?
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/de...
Thanks -
Inappropriate?did that. no change and still the same error message. Besides, the error message says that it wants to write to the file, no? that kinda suggests that the installer is trying to mess with a protected system file which is in use, no?

Inappropriate?A log from the install (you get that with msiexec /i file> /log logfile) yields among tons of junk the following lines:
InstallFiles: File: floor_desktop.jpg, Directory: C:\Program Files\BumpTop\Themes\Default\desktop\, Size: 152824
InstallFiles: File: msvcp80.dll, Directory: , Size: 1061376
DEBUG: Error 2835: The control ErrorIcon was not found on dialog ErrorDialog
The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2835. The arguments are: ErrorIcon, ErrorDialog,
Error 1304. Error writing to file: msvcp80.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory.
MSI (s) (9C:1C) [18:03:29:757]: Product: BumpTop -- Error 1304. Error writing to file: msvcp80.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory.
Note the lack of a destination directory for the msvcp80.dll file. Very strange.
I’m frustrated

This is a Windows 7 beta bug - which caused the Windows Installer service not to function correctly. Please upgrade to the RC to resolve this issue. -
Inappropriate?I get the same error.. And i see Bumptop is not doing anything to fix it... Sure am glad I didn't pay for this garbage.
I’m glad I didn't waste my money.
-
Inappropriate?Like really 3 months later and the Bump people don't even try to fix it?
Wow.... FOLKS UNLESS YOU ARE RUNNING XP DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY AS THERE ARE OTHER PROGRAMS JUST LIKE THIS OUT THERE.
Man I hate lazy programmers..

Inappropriate?Hi everyone,
To clarify:
1) The Beta (build 7000) of Windows 7 had a known error with the Windows Installer Service that caused this problems for previous users. All MSI installations would have failed for the affected machines. The updated Release Candidate (build 7100) is not affected.
2) We test heavily on XP, Vista and Windows 7 and we support x86 (32-bit) and x64 (64-bit) flavours. We're not seeing widespread problems that you guys have described in here - so we can work through things and get you up and running.
Just to confirm: You're running build 7100 or newer of Windows 7, and you've tried installing the VS2005 C++ redistributables manually, and you're getting the "error writing to MSVCP80.dll" during the install? -
Inappropriate?yeah tried all this...still getting the erro
-
Inappropriate?try running a commmand prompt and type msiexec /a bumptopinstaller.msi this will give you admin access to the files in need. however i tried this and the install still failed but now due to a corupted cabinet file, staight from the website.. not impressed with this software. beta testing needs to be carried out a little better.
*edit
After downloading it a third time it appears to now be installing. bad cable on thier end? -
Good to hear you have the download. Please let us know if you encounter any problems! -
