How soon - if ever - are we going to see thick files come back?
In the old video where you demoed Bumptop, the desktop files and folders were all thick. Will we see that come back any time soon? If so, is there a planned time table for it? I really felt like it brought the whole system together.
Using Bumptop as it is now, dragging stuff around the desktop and having it bump into other things just isn't realistic at all. Right now there are paper thin icons that act like they are 3D and have weight, but appear not to when looking at them.
I know the technology is there, because you can get images to be thick without being in a pile by changing a setting in the preferences, but none of the other files will do this. Also, when you stack files, they instantly become thick.
So, can you please bring this back? At least add (or tell me) a line that I can put in the preferences file to make this happen.

Inappropriate?I agree - this was the first thing that I noticed was missing when I first tried it.
I’m disapointed

Inappropriate? This is my main disappointment as well, Shadows and 3D icons need to be better. I read the Wiki info but I think most of us are really confused at how much BT changed from the TED Demo. The Rendering engine was probably different then. It rendered the desktop much better than what we have now. So why was that given up? Was it running on Linux? No Idea? A Graphics Powerhouse?
I think most people now have pretty powerful machines that can run BT quite well. Gosh I can even run BT in a virtual Machine within Parallels and it is speedy and stable. What does this say... BT is not a resource hog. Possibly the pipes should open up a little and start adding back the awesome stuff seeing that the developers have plenty of overhead to work with. -
Inappropriate?Yeah, I've mentioned that and a bunch of other features before.
The community is in need of their eye candy!! xD
Forget the low-end systems, they were never meant to install BT :P
Sure, the developers need to take compatibility in concideration but they can't get stuck in the past. It'll only slow development down!
But if you really need to satisfy them, you could launch a BumpTop lite?
I’m always happy

Inappropriate? For the time being, in your settings.json file, at the bottom you will see "yDist" variable. set it to 2.0 or above for thick files. Set it to under 1 for thinner files.
Mine looks like this.
"yDist" : 0.1000000014901161,
I like very thin files.

Inappropriate? Is it not the FileThickness variable?
-
it is the yDist variable in the settings.json file -
Tried it, didn't work.
