Inappropriate?Hi there,
Does Windows generate any error logs from this that you can email us? An appcompat log should be generated - and may be visible in Event Viewer.
Let me know. =) -
Inappropriate?Sent one to the feedback email address (hope thats the right one).
The Event Viewer has this to say:
Faulting application bumptop.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module bumptop.exe, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00176173. -
Inappropriate?Hi there,
Can you send us more debugging information?
In Windows XP
1. Start, run, "drwtsn32 -i"
2. Start BumpTop / trigger the crash.
3. Look in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson and email us user.dmp and any other generated files (look at the file creation date.)
In Windows Vista
1.Create a WinError.reg file that contains:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting]
"ForceQueue"=dword:00000001
2. Double click on the .reg file and add it to the registry.
3. Reboot
4. Start BumpTop / trigger the crash.
5. Look in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportQueue
and send us any WERXXXX.tmp.mdmp, WERXXXX.tmp.version.txt and WERXXXX.tmp.appcompat.txt files to feedback@bumptop.com.
Please RAR up any of the files you send us to keep the file size small.
Thank you so much for helping us with these issues! -
Inappropriate?Hi Shotglass,
Same deal as with Soon Wei, we just want to check if this is an issue with the latest update, or with your system in particular. Can you try downloading the previous version and give it another go?
bumptop.com/download/download.php?filename=BumpTopInstaller_2279.msi
Thanks,
Winson -

The old version runs just fine
except for a few diplay problems with the icon widgets (the keyboard shorcuts and lables are diplayed on top of each other) -
Inappropriate?Hi Shotglass,
Very peculiar; we've seen similar issues in the past (such as http://getsatisfaction.com/bumptop/to...), can you do the following for us and see if it still occurs?
1) Move the "C:\Documents and Settings\<your name="true">\Application Data\Bump Technologies, Inc\BumpTop" elsewhere (the scene.bump file is your desktop layout)
2) Uninstall BumpTop and delete everything in "C:\Program Files\BumpTop"
3) Reinstall
Also, if there is some way of getting in touch with you faster (ie. through IM, etc.) would you consider sending us an email at feedback@bumptop.com so that you can help us fix this problem sometime today or tomorrow?
Thanks again for your help,
Winson</your> -

For some extraordinary reason that procedure (which unless I'm mistaken should do nothing else but uninstall BT completely) helped and the latest build starts up fine now.
I didn't delete the "settings.json" file in "Documents and Settings" though to avoid having to reactivate Bumptop, so that might have something to do with it.
Only problem now is that for whatever reason "My Computer" has disappeared from my Bumptop desktop, and I can't activate "Bump this folder", that is I can activate it in the settings but as soon as i hit apply and close the settings the box is unticked again when i check the settings. -
Inappropriate?Alright I played around with the settings.json file a bit to figure out which bit of my build 2279 file helped to keep 2489 from crashing on startup.
As it turns out the tutorial appears to be responsible for crashing 2489.
In other words with a settings.json file that only contains the lines:
{
"authCode" : "xxxx",
"completedTutorial" : true
}
2489 will start up fine (with the previously mentioned "My Computer" and bump this folder problems).
However, if I set completed tutorial to false or delete the line 2489 will consistently crash at 0x00176173.
