This is a valid question and I hope that everyone understands that more discussion is better than less. The iffy thing about GetSatisfaction is that comments get pushed down so quickly! (maybe you guys can direct people to this thread if the same question arises)
There's actually another post about open sourcing BumpTop where we posted a few of our thoughts, but that's slightly tangental to the question of whether a Linux version will be available. The short answer to the question is: Yes, we are working on a cross-platform version of BumpTop; No, we don't have any specific projections on when that will be available; and Yes, we are currently working furiously on making the BumpTop experience on Windows as solid as possible.
We have a small development team of less people than one has fingers on their left hand and right now, we are committed to bringing BumpTop to as many people (initially) as possible so that we can still be around to bring it to everyone else.
Hope that answers your question!

Inappropriate?Yeah, I was seriously wondering what the plans for that are too.
-
Inappropriate?ummmm, prolly never; linux=free+open source; bumptop=we wanna make money+based(stole) our ideas from linux open source software
-
Inappropriate?sorry guys, just my 2 cents
youtube "linux lowfat"
a picture manager with a strikingly similar interface, open source, and been around for over two years -
Inappropriate?Two things to note:
1)BumpTop was first published as a concept in CHI 2006, April 22-27, 2006
The lowfat document viewer is a similar invention that appears to have arrived around the same time, though it has a somewhat different purpose. Document Viewer vs. Desktop Manager.
2)While the linux kernel is free and open source there are a multitude of companies that make money on free software by focusing on the most lucrative piece of the application's life cycle, support.
At any rate, I do not expect there will be support specifically for Linux anytime soon or at all, I am simply curious if it is a consideration at the moment or not given the indication of future Mac OSX support. -
Inappropriate?Yeah, I'm with Adam. Many companies even sell their products and still get rave reviews.
I’m confused

Inappropriate?i really didnt mean to say stole, its just a better way of getting interesting responses. Much more effective that just pondering, or slightly mentioning it, that way it would have prolly been simply disregarded. Still not sayin its not true, cuz in reality, noone will ever know. Well that and the whole parallel thinking thing.

Inappropriate?Come on, people. Bumptop isn't even ready for Windows, and they're probably working on stability and performance enhancement. Stop demanding things, you're lucky to even be beta testing Bumptop, try and show some gratitude and support towards the people working hard every day on this.

Inappropriate? If they didn't want our feedback and questions, they wouldn't have opened this forum. It is our duty as beta testers to ask the developers questions and feed them ideas about how to make their product better. I pulled Andrew's twit into a question because I am curious about their roadmap for development, not about demanding support for yet another operating system. At any rate, I'm sure the developers are quite busy and that they'll have the good sense to ignore this question.

Inappropriate?Same here. I wasn't demanding it, just curious.
