This can happen for 2 possible reasons:
1: There is a temporary problem with the site
If you have never had this problem before, it could just be temporary. Clear your browsing history / cache and reload the page. If the problem persists for more than a day, make sure there has not been any changes with your ISP or firewall, and that the ports mentioned below are open.
2: Your firewall or ISP (internet service provider) is blocking the ports needed for ChessCube
You need the following ports open to use ChessCube:
- Port 5222
- Port 843
- Port 1935
If these ports are closed (for whatever reason), you will not be able to use ChessCube. Contact the person managing your network if the ports are not open; ChessCube cannot open the ports for you.

custom port numbers like 5222, 843 or 1935 might be blocked (especially by corporate firewalls). port 80 is most likely open...

Google Chrome is not really a recommended browser for ChessCube, however if its working well your side, and you're not getting any issues/problems while logged on to ChessCube, I'm sure there's no harm in using it..

Inappropriate?Hi, I'm running Ubuntu Linux 9.04 and Firefox 3.5.3 . when I try to login on chesscube.com I get an error 002. My ports are open and it works with the same machine on Windows XP (I have a dual boot).

Hi,
The underlying technology used means that we currently can only allow game play through the ports mentioned in the answer to the original poster's question. Simply put, if those ports are not opened we cannot do anything to help a user to connect to the site. We have replied and reacted to this topic often, and we do care, but there is no solution to the problem at the moment: if those ports are closed we cannot force them open for you. We have not responded to every individual comment on this problem because we cannot say anything more than we already have.... it might get quite boring for you all to read the same reply every time! :)
We are looking into other technologies and ways around this problem and hope to have a better solution in the near-future.
Many companies and possibly ISPs lock down these ports so that users - understandably - cannot play games on their networks. While we investigate alternative technologies, please ask your local or ISP technical support staff if they can open the ports for you. -

After doing some research it looks like many users from Iran are getting this error message. Most users from every other country appear to be able to connect without a problem.
We have NOT blocked Iran in any way so our only guess at this stage is that Iran has somehow blocked you from ChessCube. If you are getting this error message, please respond to this post with your username and country so we can confirm whether it is a country or server problem. If it IS in fact a country problem, we are not sure how to proceed - can you please contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and ask them if they can test the connection to ChessCube? We will still be looking at alternatives to fix this problem, but we cannot obviously unblock ChessCube if a country has blocked us!

Hi Amir, did you talk to your ISP? We cannot help you if your country is blocking us... please ask your internet provider to try to log on to our site and see if they get the error message.

Inappropriate?You are right Bryan, as I can see most of the guys left posts here have Iraninan names, I'm from Iran too and it seems Iran has blocked the ports because we're from different parts of Iran and all have the same problem:(
That's very unfortunate that the stupid dictators in our country don't even let us play an online game like chess. There is no doubt they have blocked the ports for their damn reasons concerning censorship, but it has happened that we're deprived of a nice chess site like chesscube, to be honest with you I'm playing on chess.com and it''s by no means as good and user-friendly as chesscube.1 Comment Add a comment

we are working on technology that may fix this problem in the next couple months, with regards to ports. If that is the case, you should all be able to get back on. Of course, IF it is the country (I am still not 100% sure, just a guess from the users posting here), they could then block ChessCube.com entirely!
I am hoping it is NOT the country and that we create a work-around that uses regular interent ports.

+1 confirmed from Iran. seems that government filters these ports to avoid people from accessing chat services, which accidentally filtered out this site too. I used ssh tunneling to break through the filtering but that doesn't seem to work either. when I called my ISP's support center, they told me that it's filtered in the Iran TCI's data center which all ISPs have to use as the gateway to the internet, and they can do nothing to unblock these ports. I hope that something could be done regarding this issue, because chesscube was a favorite place to play blitz games for me.
btw, can there be some kind of client software for chesscube interface (something like ICC, Playchess, etc) that could be installed on system? I think if that could happen, we could have used many workarounds to get chesscube to work in Iran.

But good news for Iranians is that the stupid government has unblocked the ports for chatting (Yahoo) since the threats of communication between people for Aban 13th would-be rallies are gone because Aban 13th is gone ;-) so that we can login and enjoy Chesscube again :)

Inappropriate?Hi all I am a Ubuntu 9.04 user and I FOUND THE SOLUTION!!
the problem lies in the ndiswrapper used by the default ubuntu install,
I use a 6 bit Linux and what I uninstall the plugin through:
sudo dpkg -l | grep libflash
it should give you the package installed, uninstall it by:
sudo apt-get remove flash........(name you got in grep libflash)
after go to the ADOBE website and ge tthe appropiate version of flash, if 64 bit download the plugin, extract it to your desktop.
go to
cd /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins, there is you see the flash plugin remove it
sudo rm libflashplayer.so
and then do
sudo cp ~/Desktop/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins
and that solved the problem for me!!!
if you have 32 bit version then get the apprpiate plugin and
sudo cp ~/Desktop/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
Make sure you select the right version of flash for your architecture
AND REMOMBER RESTARTING YOUR BROWSER BY
killall firefox && firefox
