My time decreasing and opponent's time increasing after opponent moves
Sometimes, when my opponent takes more time than usual to move, after he moves my time decreases and his time increases with that same amount! Almost like he steals my time... is it possible?

Inappropriate? When we see the time moving around like that our first assumption is that it is lag/latency related. Basically the user (through no fault of their own - it could be their internet connection, your internet connection or the ChessCube server) moves but their move is not received by you until much later, at which stage the clocks are adjusted to reflect the ACTUAL time that they moved. Alternatively, you may be playing a game with a time increment (every move they make gives them a time bonus).
More information:
What is latency?
- Your latency is displayed at the top of your screen in the middle (a coloured bar with a number next to it)
- Latency represents the time it takes for data to travel between your computer and the ChessCube server.
- The units are ms (milliseconds) and one second is equal to 1000ms.
How exactly does latency give the appearance of clock manipulation?
- After you made your move, the clock on your screen keeps ticking. It does not take into account your and your opponent's lag.
- Once your opponent's move gets to your pc, the clock gets “updated” to the right time - the actual time they made their move.
- The time added is insignificant when both your and your opponent's lag is low, but when either have bad lag, it can be significant (for instance, it may look like he has had many seconds or even minutes added back to his clock)
- If your opponent's time goes to 0 on your pc, and it is because of lag, the clock will be updated, and thus you will not have won on time... and it is NOT your opponent cheating the time!

Hi... I lost a game when I thought I should have won on time. My opponents time went way down and the lag was 26 ms... even the chat didn't respond!!
Then when my opponents chat came back the lag went way up.
It's so very frustrating!! and all of that time is thinking time... Is there not a better way??

Inappropriate?I've experienced that too, thought t'was due to lag.But some other times when challenged by someone, i noted whether or not he/she has lag.We played 5mins and noticed that my opponents time increased by the time it went down to 2 mins and back to at least 4mins,while my time continued as it were(normal) i mean let's say we both had 2mins plus.My time runs as usual all the way down while my opponent has more time.I mentioned to whom i played w/ and he/she replied nothing went wrong and no lag at her/his side.I lost on time at the end and figured out we played more than 5 mins by looking at my watch...

Inappropriate? To be honest... I think it's a "live with it" problem... luckily .. I don't think it happens a lot. OTOH... maybe it does and doesn't get reported.

It is more of a "live with it... in the current version" problem. We are aware of latency and time related bugs with version 2.x; version 3.x is a whole new platform and has some significant architecture changes, which may fix most of these issues, and, if there are residual issues, it is the platform we want to work with... as opposed to tweaking the older v.2 platform.
Speaking of which: We are getting very close to releasing V.3 - just some final serious bugs to fix, and it will be released (likely Monday or Tuesday). -
Inappropriate?Tx Bryan.... and wow!! you guys must have worked reeeaaally hard!! Monday/Tuesday!! WOW!!!!

Inappropriate? It is quite annoying, I lost a game today when his timer ran out (00:00.0) for about 3 seconds, then it said he won by checkmate with 00:00.1 seconds to spare. He also kept getting a second or so back each move (only noticed this at the end, not sure if it was during all of the game). Of course, it could just be bad latency synchronising (my latency is quite low though, I will post an average figure if you need me to)

Inappropriate?Hi,
Usually latency becomes more noticeable when time is low; this is because your opponent is moving much faster (likely premoving) to avoid losing on time. Also, your latency might be low- but your opponent's latency also has an effect on the clock.
