Phase out photo album uploads and focus on aggregation.
I know I'm gonna get some flak for this idea. But, I think chi.mp should steer clear of implementing a photo album and focus on feed/contact aggregation. For photos, chi.mp can work on tighter integration with existing photo services such as flickr, picasaweb, generic rss-based album. I think upload and dealing with storage headaches is going to spread chi.mp too thin causing other functionality to potentially degrade in quality. It'll suck you in!

Inappropriate?I strongly disagree with you. I using albums to show some materials to people (chi.mp and foreign OpenID) in certain group and hide from public. Yes. i can use something like Rapidshare but Chi.mp albums much more usable.I thing Albums need more functionality like script based pop-up image showing or so, but defenitely NOT phase out!
I’m worried

I can emphasize with your point. However, in my experience, I have found that software development is a zero-sum game. There are only certain amount of developers, fixed time, and an infinite feature request space. Achieving feature parity with flickr or picasaweb will only lead to a bottomless sink of requests thereby losing focus on important issues such as identity and aggregation. Your additional requests are a case in point .. "if it can just do this one more thing..."
I'm not opposed to a wrapper around existing services. I exhort chi.mp to avoid getting sucked in to create an entirely new photo album service. -
Don't try to use chi.mp as something it's not. For showing certain photos to certain people, do this separation at the source end, and then expose the feeds in chi.mp using personas. Don't try to make chi.mp into yet another photo service. -
Inappropriate?Yes. Please stop feature creep dead in its tracks. I'm sick and tired of every single one of these services trying to implement all the functionality of all the services they aggregate.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Privacy is very important to me, this is the reason why I dont upload certain pictures to flickr (or similar services), because they are out there for everyone to see and not everyone has a flickr account. This is one of the reasons why I am so hopeful for chi.mp, because we have control over what we upload and can decide who sees what. Don't phase out photo album uploads!
I’m anxious, frustrated

Inappropriate?I personally like how the Chi.mp albums work. Great organization and not limited such as another service allows only two albums. Many services don't count views are allow individual comments. Many services limit theirs. Right now Chi.mp is pretty open with it.
With Chi.mp's photo albums you can limit views based on personas. For example if you have a persona and blog just for your mom, why not have an album also for mom that only mom and you can see? I like Chi.mp's album service so far, and I believe it is nowhere near done.
Thank you all for your thoughts and contributions to the testing phase of Chi.mp! Chi.mp is still a baby and we're all working hard to make it ready to roll out! Lots of work to do!
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Идея - говно.
Пусть пилят сервис дальше, руки прочь от альбома! :)
Я знаю, что мало кто поймет этот текст :)
