Inappropriate?If checked, it means your photos won't show up in searches or explore.

Inappropriate?If your photos are private, only you can see them. If they're public, but have the "hide from public areas" flag set, they're still viewable by anyone on the web at the photo's page and in your photostream. They just won't be searchable by text or tags and they won't be included in Explore.
