Why does my iPhoto plugin just loop and never connect with Flickr?
just loops and never connects, just keeps looking for authentication, which I've done before.

Inappropriate?Try deleting your preferences and starting over. Quit iPhoto, remove the file ~/Library/Preferences/com.connectedflow.flickrexport.plist and try again.

Inappropriate?Still doesn't work. Any other ideas or is this just a buggy plugin that i am beta testing for you?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Fraser, your suggested solution works for ONE CYCLE. Which means exactly this: if you delete the com.connectedflow.flickrexport.plist from your Library/ Preferences folder, you can then re-add your PERSONAL REGISTRATION NUMBER when FlickrExport reboots on iPhoto. You will be taken to Flickr's authorization page where you approve FlickrExport's access and then you can connect. But only after you FORCE QUIT the iPhoto application once and reboot. Once you upload a batch, you have to repeat this WHOLE PROCESS to upload a new batch. This is completely a waste of time and unacceptable. This is annoying and frustrating.
Your old FREE program never had this problem. What's the deal? I want my money back, this is a terrible release.

I’m pissed and going to blog this shortly.

Inappropriate?@hustlerofculture Let me see that I understand you correctly. You're saying that, if you start with a vanilla FlickrExport (i.e. no preferences) you can:
- Launch it once
- Enter the registration number
- Authorise with Flickr, then connect successfully.
- You then say that you have to force quit iPhoto and reboot your computer?
Having done that, you can upload one batch but the next time you try to export, FlickrExport is asking your for authentication details again? Are you relaunching iPhoto after the first batch, or trying to make a second export in the same session?
If you feel a refund is the best way to handle this, please contact me on info at connectedflow.com, including your original receipt email.
Thanks,
Fraser -
Inappropriate?Fraser,
Thanks for your prompt response.
I downloaded FlickrExport. I'm not sure what you mean by vanilla, as at any given point I don't believe I was given a choice to download another option other than FlickrExport for iPhoto.
These are the exact steps I take to publish/upload photos (after downloading and installing your application, entering ):
INITIAL LAUNCH SEQUENCE
- Launch iPhoto
- Highlight photos to export
- Select EXPORT from the FILE tab
- Wait for an eternity for FlickrExport to connect to Flickr, which it never does
- FORCE QUIT iPhoto
SECOND TRY
- Remove com.connectedflow.flickrexport.plist from your Library/ Preferences folder
- Reboot iPhoto
- Enter PERSONAL REGISTRATION NUMBER for FlickrExport
- Approve Flickr permissions to allow FlickrExport access
- Highlight photos to export
- Select EXPORT from the FILE tab
- FlickrExport connects and uploads batch
- Highlight another group of photos to export
- Wait for an eternity for FlickrExport to connect to Flickr, which it never does
- FORCE QUIT iPhoto
- Repeat all of the above steps from SECOND TRY again
I am essentially trying to make a second export while my application is open, just like how I used too (without any problems). Let me know what else I can try doing. In the meantime I will delete EVERYTHING from my brand new laptop, and reinstall everything and see if it clicks.

Inappropriate?I sat down to really dig into this today but wasn't immediately able to reproduce it. Can you tell me which versions of Mac OS X, iPhoto and FlickrExport you're using and I'll try to get the same setup?
Thanks.
I’m frustrated too
-
Inappropriate?Fraser, thanks for continuing to try.
I have Mac OS 10.5.6, iPhoto 08 version 7.1.5 (738) and FlickrExport 2.0.15.
Looking forward to hearing your results.

Inappropriate?Hi Tom,
FlickrExport 2.x isn't supported on Snow Leopard. You'll need to move to 3.x if you're on 10.6. You'll be eligible for at least a 50%-off upgrade, or a free upgrade if you bought 2.x after Jan 1, 2008.
Use the form at http://connectedflow.com/store/ to see if you're eligible for a free upgrade.
Best,
Fraser -
Inappropriate?Thanks Fraser
I just noticed there's a flickr uploader built in to iPhoto now. I'd rather spend my money on an indy than apple but unfortunately the latter is just working for me at the moment.
I’m undecided
-
Inappropriate? Not a problem, Tom. Just be aware that, when you delete exports from within iPhoto '09's built-in uploader, they're removed from Flickr too.
-
Inappropriate?Wow thanks for that I had no idea - I was using Flickr as a backup - maybe I do need connected flow after all.
-
Inappropriate?I blogged about this at http://speirs.org/blog/2009/1/30/on-t... (although I do hesitate to use it as a support document for fear of being accused of spreading FUD).
-
Inappropriate? Thanks for the link, I see what you mean, there are much more limited options within the iPhoto built in export.
I’m undecided
