XMPP/Jabber Support for Facebook Chat
Facebook should launch full support for XMPP (Jabber) standards in its chat client. There was an announcement in May of this year that it was on its way, but recent rumblings indicate that it will be done in one developer's spare time.

Inappropriate?Same here. I have been using XMPP/Jabber supported client to post things to ping.fm and ... it would be great to have that inter-operable between applications. At least, I could stay logged in from my mobile devices.

Inappropriate?I would also like to see this implemented as a priority. My guess is that it would work by having a Jabber ID like 'facebook_id_number@facebook.com' which you then add to your buddy list?

Inappropriate?This is the singularly most important thing facebook should develop right now. They're over a year past the announcement, and we haven't had so much as a real status update.

Inappropriate?the real reason - they can't monetize their ads, apps, and other garbage if people use an XMPP client. how often do they syndicate their services if it doesnt drive traffic to their site? think about it...
