Feedly Firefox extension should display a status icon with count of unread items.
Currently, there are many ways to open feedly: bookmark, speed dial etc. But you don't know if you have any reason to open it. Maybe there's nothing new? Status bar is best place to notify that there IS a reason. I would like to see that icon as an addition to the toolbar button (happy they can be removed from toolbar).
There is similliar idea, but about adding count to the toolbar button.

Inappropriate?Jakub: thanks for the suggestion. We will look into this in the next 2-3 weeks. We are working on a couple of other features which are going to make this more relevant.

Inappropriate?Would be great to have some notification about unread items - like exclamation sign or something like that (as well as option to choose if you want it or not).
-
Inappropriate?Or in the favicon, which is better at my opinion.
Take a look at the script that implements the same functionality in the Gmail. -
Inappropriate?Unread at favicon cons:
- Only shows up when a feedly tab is open *
- I want it in the status bar together with my other update-checking add-ons
pros: none! (not for me :P)
*The point of having unread items showing up is that I DON'T have to open up/have it open all the time every minute, it won't help me at all if I still have to open up feedly to check the amount.
And I want it to just show star feeds! It's star feeds that I read when they arrive, that's the whole point with stars, right?
Showing that I got 2k unread uninteresting items left is not that funny.
Actually I want feedly to focus on star feeds even more in every aspect, there's not even a star only link on the page!
I’m excited
