First day with Feedly: it wipes out every last feed!
&!@*#$&@#^$!!!
I just started using Feedly today, and while playing around to learn things, I accidentally pressed that checkmark button. What does a checkmark do? It marks all items as read!
And guess what? If you happen to be on the "Latest" page, it MARKS EVERY DAMN LAST ARTICLE IN EVERY DAMN LAST FEED AS READ!!! My entire Google Reader feed list wiped out in one click, without so much as a warning! Whereas a few minutes ago I had several thousand things to read, I now have "Nothing to read"!
So I come here looking for a way to undo it, and find this post where someone else reported the problem TEN MONTHS AGO!

Inappropriate?I understand your frustration. I am not sure what we can do to help. There is an option to show read articles.

Inappropriate? You're not sure what you can do to help????
How about creating an undo feature!
How about adding a confirmation dialog when you're about to mark every article in every feed as read! Is there really ANY reason WHATSOEVER that anyone, at any time, would want to mark every last article in every last feed as read with a single click of the mouse, without warning??? Wow, maybe Microsoft should add a delete button like that to Outlook. One click, no mail. ANYWHERE!
How about doing something about it TEN months ago! -
Inappropriate?Russell is right about this problem from a usability perspective. Any action that you can't undo, particularly ones that do things like this in bulk, should have a confirmation. There's also no affordance that the number of unread items is clickable so if it is clicked and marks everything as read, you'll wonder why.
-
Fair enough. Will work on adding a confirmation dialog for the category and all mark as read actions. -
Inappropriate?I suggest that the nag screens be on by default but configurable. It's fine to have a mandatory confirmation for mark-all-as-read for latest, but in other contexts such as mark-page-as-read on feed pages or category pages, I'd rather do without the confirmations myself.
-
Agreed Phil. We will try to find the right balance: add a confirmation dialog but allow users to turn it off when they understand what the check box is about (will keep it on on the latest page to avoid accident) -
Inappropriate?Update: we tried to take into account the feedback and added in the 2.x.018 patch we will push out over the week end a confirmation dialogue when the user clicks on the mark as read check mark. There is an option to turn off the confirmation dialog for people like Phil who want to do so.

This way other people won't have to go to the frustration Russell had to go through. Will update this thread when 2.x.018 is out. -
Inappropriate?Thanks Edwin.
