Facebook login broken - fix in progress
Facebook's addition of the "personalized url" option has broken the integration with Facebook in Flock's People Sidebar for some folks.
We've been hard at work on a fix since last night and tentatively hope to have it out to you by Monday. We'll keep you informed on this thread in the meantime.

Inappropriate?I have still been working on a connection problem with YouTube...which everyone at Flock swears has been fixed in V2.5 (NOT). And then Flicker, which seems to now be working; and the this Facebook issue; which I just now saw the Tweet about. Out of frustration and none of the suggestions working to fix YouTube; I just decided to completely remove Flock from my computer; manually delete any left over files in the Programs Directory and the Applications Directory; then rebooted the computer and tried to start totally from a clean install. Obviously, Facebook isn't working, but neither is YouTube working correctly either. Everything else is ok; so hopefully when you get Facebook working again you might also completely fix YouTube connection for real this time too.

Hey John,
Sorry I dropped the ball on helping you with your YouTube issue. I got sucked into meetings last week (though that's not a good excuse). However, it sounds like it was a profile issue on your computer, not an issue with Flock at large; nobody else is reporting this issue anymore. I'm glad to hear you got it worked out, I'm sorry you had to do it without my help. Next time I'll try to be more on top of it.

Sorry Chet...obviously this happened late in the evening as the Facebook change went out. The developers started on the fix right away, but I didn't get around to posting until this morning. That said, this is always the place to look for updates like this! -

Inappropriate?I sure hope they fix this problem with the PEOPLE SIDEBAR. That is probable the number 1 feature that I absolutely love about FLOCK. I sure hope you fix it in a timely matter. I am glad that at least the Twitter Feature works but some what Fustrated that Facebook is having this problem

1. Log out of Facebook
2. Go to Tools>Options (Windows), Flock>Preferences(Mac) or File>Preferences(Linux)
3. Click "Advanced"
4. Go to the Update tab
5. Click "Force Service Updates"
6. Restart your computer
Please make sure you follow *all* of these steps. If you're still experiencing any issues after you've completed these steps, please let us know.

I did follow all of these steps and it doesn't work. flock 2.0.3 on ubuntu 8.04. -
Wayne: as you'll notice in my post, this fix is only for 2.5 so far. We'll try to get the fix for 2.0.x out soon. In general I'd highly recommend upgrading to 2.5. -
yes, I just download flock 2.5 and delete flock-data.sqlite and it works now! However I have thought that flock would update from 2.0.x to the newest version automatically. -

@Wayne: We haven't pushed out auto-updates to 2.5 yet because we're still testing the update process. Once we're sure it's squeaky-clean, we'll send it out to you. Upgrading manually, as you did, is a safe alternative way to upgrade to 2.5 now. -

Inappropriate?Almost all is well in the well with the world now that it is working again... However, has Flockcast now been broken as well?? I've only just updated to 2.5 in the middle of this mess and now that everything is working I have just tried to flockcast my Twitter post from the side bar to Facebook without success.
I’m confused... probably just me though.

FlockCast would have been broken as well, since it requires Facebook integration to function.
Sometimes Flockcasted tweets get stuck in the "Recent Activity" section on your profile page, which can often be a ways down the page. Are you sure your tweet is not there?

I think I may have misunderstood the concept of Flockcast. I assumed it would update status on both Twitter and Facebook at the same time. This doesn't seem to be the case though. Such a shame as typing a status update once and having it applied to multiple networks would be a great feature. -
I agree with artofbs...Flockcast is really of little value if it doesn't update status in both services. It's really lame to see the "Flockcast" in a BOX somewhere on your info page. :( -

You are correct that FlockCast doesn't publish to your status. However, it doesn't just publish to that Box on the info page. It should also publish to your profile page or "wall". However, due to the mysterious workings of Facebook's algorithm, sometimes status updates/tweets get grouped in the "Recent Activity" section on your profile page. Take a look for that on your profile page.
I welcome feedback on FlockCast, but I'd like to encourage you to open a new thread about it - this thread is about the Facebook issue, and I'd rather not have an entirely separate thread in it.

1. Type "about:webdetective" (minus the quotation marks) into the address bar and hit enter

My facebook friends are not displayed under the "People" sidebar. The facebook selector icon has a orange dot on it. Under the People->facebook sub-sidebar I see my facebook picture and an old status message, and no friends.

1. Log out of Facebook and "forget" it in the Accounts&Services sidebar
2. Leave Facebook.com
3. Open the Tools menu and choose Options
4. Go to the Privacy tab
5. Click "Show Cookies"
6. Delete any Facebook cookies
7. Restart your computer
I'm not positive that'll fix the issue, but it's worth trying. Let me know how that goes.

It didn't help. I checked the cookies before logging into Facebook, and there were no facebook cookies. It still doesn't work. My facebook status is right, but none of my friends show up. I've even gone so far as clearing all the Private Data. (though I only shutdown the browser after that one, not the entire computer).

You have the right webdetective files, so things should be working. Please try the following:
1. Log out of Facebook, leave Facebook.com and "forget" your Facebook account in the Accounts & Services sidebar
2. Go to Tools>Options (Windows) or Flock>Preferences (Mac)
3. Go to the Privacy tab
4. Click "Show Cookies"
5. Delete all Facebook.com cookies
6. Shut down Flock and restart your whole computer
Let me know if that clears things up.

This issue should be resolved in Flock 2.5 as well, and we don't recommend you stay on 2.0.3. We'll be updating 2.0.3 to 2.5 shortly, and remaining on 2.0.3 makes you increasingly vulnerable to security issues. I'm happy to help you troubleshoot the Facebook issue if you reinstall 2.5.

The problem was about the 2,5 in windows vista is not able to do registration on facebook no matter i unisstall and rinstall more time deleting personal data and diectory. The things was back ok as i reinstalled the 2.03 -

I have the same problem with Twitter and Youtube sidebars.

Hey Judson,
There shouldn't be any issue with Twitter, but they were down yesterday. Try restarting your computer and logging in again.
As for YouTube, there's currently a bug if you go to your YouTube profile page and login from there. If you're logging in from the homepage, it should be fine. Is this not the case for you?

Inappropriate?Hi, I am still having a long standing issue in that I have the people sidebar up with both twitter and facebook. Twitter is fine but facebook works for a day showing updates and then stops. If I logout and log back in then it starts working again. I have tried forcing the service updates but nothing seems to fix it. Any ideas?

Inappropriate?All previous updates are in there but no new status updates appear. I have facebook open on one of my tabs and it shows new posts when i refresh it so i am still logged into facebook. Only the people sidebar stops updating.

This is, unfortunately, a known issue. We're not entirely sure why it happens...sometimes it has to do with putting your computer to sleep, sometimes it's not that. We're continuing to investigate and will hopefully have this fixed in a later version.
The short-term solution is to close and re-open the sidebar - that should kick it back into gear. If that doesn't work, you may want to try forgetting your accounts in the Accounts&Services Sidebar and then logging back in.

I should add, I did do the fi when FB added usernames, and all has been well. Now when I do the 'force service update', it just says 'starting service update'. -

I have the same OS and Flock version as you. I followed Karl-Petter Åkesson's steps found in Justin's thread (listed in previous comment), and my problem was solved. I now make a copy of my database (flock-data.sqlite) for backup once a week or so - just in case. Also - I updated my facebook account with a unique url as well.
At any rate - things are ok with me and flock right now.

It is more than Facebook. No accounts or services are available, including Twitter, Flickr, etc. The Accounts and Services comes up empty. When I click the People icon only the following info comes up,
Also the Media Bar cannot find any accounts, public or my own. It just continues to search without finding anything.
Hope this information helps. I have just upgraded to Version 2.5 US.

It looks like the issue you're experiencing is not related to the Facebook one, and that you're rather seeing this:

Hence, I'd suggest to follow Justin's suggestion about renaming the "flock-data.sqlite" file. If you feel uncomfortable about it, you could always export your bookmarks and RSS feeds or backup your profile first (http://flock.com/faq).
