Inappropriate?I completely remove flock, including personal information and the result is the same, the flickr password is not retain.
-
Inappropriate?@Mario,
I am sorry to hear saving Flickr password is not working. When you login at Flickr.com, did you mark the "Keep me signed in" option? Also, would you check whether "Always clear my private data when I close Flock" is enabled at Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> at Private Data, please? If this option is enabled, please disable it.
A quick check whether cookies is kept is to login at Flickr.com and choose "Save and Quit" at the Quit Flock dialog. After Flock restarts, check whether Flickr is still or not.
Thanks,
Patricia -
Inappropriate?Hi, This morning the left panel does not say "lonely....". When I start Flock, it ask to logout and login to flickr, the left panel appear after that like it is supposed to be.

But the flickr password is not retain after restarting flock
-
Inappropriate? When I open flock (not each time I open it) it ask to me to :
Configure your Flickr account in Flock to enjoy all the benefits of having Flickr services directly in your browser. You'll need to log out and log in again to activate Flock's advanced features.
I did this, but Flock never remember the password and I have to enter it each time.
-
Inappropriate?@Mario,
Thank you so much for including all of the images. Now, I can reproduce this problem and I've filed this bug at https://bugzilla.flock.com/show_bug.c...
Hopefully, we will resolve it soon. Thanks again for you patience and assistance.

Inappropriate?Hello Patricia,
I installed the version 2.5.2, flock does not reatain more the Flickr Password, to illustrate this I made a Flash (flv) video.
You can see it a this address:
http://mgroleau.com/videos/flockprobl...
In the video I show:
1 - The flock browser already login to flickr
2 - The closing of the flock browser windows
3 - The reopenning of the flock browser on my flickr home page
4 - The login process
5 - The status of password keeping setting
6 - The fact that it works with facebook.
I home that this information will help.
Best regards

Inappropriate?Hello Mario,
Thank you for the video. After watching the video, I finally understand the question. I am sad to tell you that is expected. If you also do the same steps either in Firefox or IE, Flickr.com still won't remember the previous account's password.
Please try the following steps on Firefox or IE
1. Go to www.flickr.com
2. Check mark "Keep me signed in"
3. Enter username and password and login
4. After Flickr is logged in, restart the browser
5. Go to flickr.com and press log out
6. Then go back the Flickr login page
ACTUAL RESULT
Flickr web page won't remember the password
Furthermore, if you login at Flickr.com, then press the log out. Going back to the Flickr login page, the Flickr password is not kept as well.
I hope I answered your question,
Thanks,
Patricia -
Inappropriate?Hi
Effectively if I logout from Flickr before closing Firefox (3.5.2) and after I reopen Firefox the flickr password is not kept and I have to re-enter it. But if I only close Firefox when I am login into Flick and reopen Firefox the Flickr password is kept.
But when I use Flock, and I only close it when I am login in flickr and reopen it, the password if not kept.
But my office computer (XP SP3) and my laptop computer (VISTA), Flock keeps the password from Flickr!
With facebook I have no problem on my 3 computers with Flock.
On my home computer (XP SP3) I uninstalled FLOCK, deleted the residual folder in program files and the folder in my profile and re-Installed it with no success.
-
Inappropriate?Hello Mario,
This is very strange. I can't reproduce it on my side. Would you try these steps, please?
1. Check marked the " Keep me signed in" option at Flickr.com
2. Login to Flickr.com
3. Wait till Flickr contracts are loaded at people sidebar, then close Flock and choose "Save and Quit".
4. After Flock restarted, are Flickr contracts loading at people sidebar?
Furthermore, when you said " reopen Firefox the Flickr password is kept", did it mean the password was listed the Flickr password field or Flickr account was still logged in?
Thank you so much for your patience.

Inappropriate?I post 2 new videos that show Flock and Firefox with the same manipulations.
You have answer to the question in the videos.
http://mgroleau.com/videos/flockprobl...
When Flock restart it loads the side bar with flickr users but it forget it very quickly until flickr sign in.
Best regards
-
Inappropriate?Hello Mario,
Thank you so much for the videos. I very appreciate. From your videos, when revisiting at Flickr.com, the log out message bar shows up, which deletes the login authorization and this is a known bug
Thank you again for your continuously support.
Patricia -
Inappropriate?Patricia, I don't think you are getting the point.
I have exactly the same problem here. For me would be something like this:
*************
BUG1
Summary: FLOCK does not ask if I want it to remember my Flickr acount password.
Step to reproduce:
1. Start FLOCK.
2. Log in to a flickr account.
Result:
- I'm never asked if I want FLOCK to remember my Flickr password (no yellow bar).
Expected result:
- After logging in to Flickr, FLOCK ask If I want it to remember my password.
*************
BUG2
Summary: Flickr acount is logged out after restarting FLOCK.
Step to reproduce:
1. Start FLOCK.
2. Log in to a flickr account.
3. Close FLOCK without logging out the Flickr acount.
4. Start FLOCK again.
Result:
- I'm logged out from Flickr.
Expected result:
- To remain logged in to Flickr.
NOTES:
- "Always clear my private data when I close Flock" at Privacy options si NOT checked
- "Remember passwords for sites" is enabled.
- Is not a bug of a bug, because one thing is to remember the password to complete the password field when FLOCK is started with Flickr account logged out. And another thing is to remain logged in after restarting the browser, this is a cookies stuff or something.
*************
Hope this helps something!

I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I observe that I do not find any entry for Flickr or Yahoo in the « Saved Passwords windows », but I have one for facebook.com and getsatisfaction.com
Also I have no exceptions for « remember passsowrd for sites » -
The same here. Plus I'm never asked to remember Flickr's password. But I'm asked (and actually FLOCK remembers it) for Gmail and Facebook password.
Mario, please tell me if my "bug" is the same happening to you. thanks! -
Inappropriate?Hello Tomduca, if you logout from flickr, flock will ask you to logout also from Yahoo, answer yes, after close Flock and return to Flock and login to Flickr, at this moment Yahoo will ask you If you want to left connected for two weeks, mark the check box. It is one of first thing to do, but for me it does not work.
-
Inappropriate?Yeap. For me the "left connected.." stuff doesnt work. Neither the Flock's passwords remember.
-
Inappropriate?Hi there!
I've got the same problem here. And it started some weeks ago when I decided to clear the cache of Flock. From that moment on, Flock doesn't remember my Flickr password, and anytime I close and re-open the browser, I'm logged out from Flickr and I have to re-enter the password (exactly the same that happens to you).
-
Inappropriate?I can also add this useful thing I've noticed: Flock stays logged-in in Flickr if I decide not to remember the account in the sidebar.
Try to do this steps to understand, and let me know if happens the same to you:
1) log out from flickr and yahoo, and clear your flickr's account in the sidebar. clear the cache, too.
2) close and re-open flock, go to www.flickr.com and log in
3) when flock asks "remember this account etc etc" just reply "NO"
4) now close and re-open the browser, go to flickr and control if it's still logged in
For me, this works.
But in this case I have not Flickr in my sidebar, so I cannot load my contacts' activity and I cannot use the uploader. And it's frustrating.
It seems that Flock, attempting to enter in flickr to load the contacts everytime is open, it's seen by yahoo like a continuos and unauthorized access: so yahoo asks for the password for security reasons.
On the contrary, if you decide not to remember the account, Flickr simply applies the politic of "2 weeks' login", and let you stay connected without problems.
The strange thing is that all happens after clearing the cache and the accounts: before that, flock's integration with flickr has always worked fine for me.
Hope this could help.
-
Inappropriate? It worked for me your solution :). I dont ever use the side bar. But I'm a fan of the uploader... I guess I'll start using the flickr uploader tool..
Thanks for the tip!!
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?About the capacity to flock to retain my flickr password, I tried yesterday a new test.
1 - I uninstalled flock
2 - I removed profile folder
3 - I removed the program files/flock folder
4- I removed all registry entries with the word flock
5- I installed flock
The result is the same, flock do not keep my flickr password. For more details see my video page
http://mgroleau.com/videos/flockprobl...
But on my laptop and my work computer all work well!
-
Inappropriate?I would like to say that I have just BEGUN having this same issue.
I was having a different problem which brought me to getsatisfaction.com. We worked through it, and it cleared up the problem I was having. As part of the fix, I was asked to:
Back up my RSS
Back up my Bookmarks
Rename my Flock Folder to "Flock Backup"
Uninstall Flock
Download and install Flock.
Put my backed up RSS and Bookmarks back into the clean Flock.
And NOW I am having the very same issue you guys are having with Flickr. I didn't have it before, so it must have been caused by this re-install somehow.
Hope that helps someone figure this out.
Karen
I’m Baffled.
-
Karen,
I've responded to your Flickr issue on your other thread here:
http://getsatisfaction.com/flock/topi...
Flock not keeping the session cookies for Flickr is a known issue reported here:
https://bugzilla.flock.com/show_bug.c...
Thanks and apologies for the inconvenience,
Sophie -
Inappropriate? It's just odd, though, that I DIDN'T have the bug, did a re-install of the same exact version, and now I DO have the bug. I cleared my cookies in that fix, too. Maybe that did it. Ah well.I guess I will have to live with it until there is a fix.
At least the other issue is much better. Thanks.
Karen

Inappropriate?just to add to the list of people with this problem. Flickr's login isn't persistent anymore in flock. I only have this om my work pc and not at home. Every first time I visit flickr I have to login, or ... even stranger after a few seconds I'm not logged in anymore.
-
@ronny.hermans,
We're sorry to hear you're also experiencing some Flickr issues. We hope to get them fixed soon.
@everyone,
Flock not keeping the session cookies is a known bug reported here:
https://bugzilla.flock.com/show_bug.c...
Flickr account automatically or randomly logging out within 24 hours is a known bug reported here:

Thanks,

Inappropriate?Hi,
Do you have an idea of when the corrected Flock will be released ? -
Inappropriate? The same for me. Flock just closes flickr login everytime i closes the program.
If i keep the tab (flickr web) open all day, it's working.
If I closes the tab or navigate away to other page, when some time passes, flock loses again flickr login
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?Hey folks,
Just to let you know, the community team here at Flock is continuing to push for getting these fixes into a new build. These bugs will not be fixed in Flock 2.5.5 because of limited development resources, unfortunately. But please keep posting here (and hitting the "I have this problem, too!" button) so that the folks upstairs can understand that this is an important issue to you.
Thanks for hanging in there,

Inappropriate? Thanks for the answer. This problem is getting me mad.
This is the reason why I will stop using and recommending Flock -
Inappropriate?I too have this problem. I am using Flock on two laptops and the problem is on one but not on the other. It's the weirdest bug and it's way too annoying to use Flock any longer.
-
Inappropriate?Yeah, I am with Walex and George. I use flickr a lot and hate always having to log in (and turning off the friends bar every time I click on a photo!). It's making my basic toward flock more and more bitter.
-
Inappropriate?Everyone, I think I may have found a solution to this annoying bug. Or at least a temporary one. I don't know how long this will last.
Here's what I did. I uninstalled 2.5.2 and then I downloaded and installed 2.0.3 from here: http://www.versiondownload.com/flock/...
2.0.3 also exhibited the same annoying log out bug in the Flock uploader but it remained logged in on the main browser page.
So without uninstalling 2.0.3, I reinstalled 2.5.2 and then tested it again. This time everything stayed logged in even after I closed Flock. I also tried restarting and Flickr remained logged in. So try this and see if it works for you.
I don't think I want to install any new versions any more, enough with the hassle. I'll stick to this if it works well. The reason why I use Flock is because I use Flock uploader and also Flockcast to update to my facebook as well. -
Inappropriate?I have shut down and restarted flock a few times now and both facebook and flickr stayed logged on so perhaps the above solution does work, hope everyone can try it and report back.
-
Inappropriate?This worked for me.
Thanks a lot for the workarround
;)
PS: Don't forget selecting DO NOT UPDATE AUTOMATICALLY
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?Hey folks,
I'm as frustrated with this bug as you are, but we do not recommend installing older versions of Flock. There are two reasons for this:
- Each browser release we put out has security updates designed to keep you safe on the web, which can be a dangerous place. 2.0.3 is many, many security patches behind 2.5.
- Downgrading can cause profile corruption and has the potential to damage your feeds/favorites/etc. Browsers just aren't really designed to be downgraded.
I'm pushing as hard as I can to get the team to address these Flickr bugs, and I apologize that it's taking so long...we're a small team and there are lots of other things taking priority. Please bear with us - but keep voicing your feelings on this issue so I can prove to the folks upstairs this issue is important to you.

Inappropriate?I've brought this exact issue to Evan's attention directly only my problem didn't start until I changed to windows 7 64 bit. Other than that everything is exactly as these people have apparently been saying for months now. Would have been nice to at least have been pointed to this thread. As it is I accidentally stumbled onto it after looking through this site repeatedly for exactly this issue. I was up to 2.5.2 when I installed windows 7 64 bit and somehow was not previously having log in problems with Flickr.
-
Inappropriate?Additionally I find it difficult to imagine that even with a small support group this problem can be treated as low priority. Flickr login and integration is one of only a handful of blatantly advertised, supported functions of Flock.
One item you might wish to consider while opting to set a low priority for this problem is this simple reality of support. For every ten people who complain and attempt to help correct a problem, untold others simply shrug it off and walk away.
In other words, while the number of complaints is easily quantifiable (and a failure too easily de-prioritized based on same) the number of lost users who don't care to play along and wait, is immeasurable. -

+1 -
Inappropriate?Version 2.5.5 installed, the problem is already there. When I close my flock and reopen it, flickr side bar ask me to login to flickr.
-
Inappropriate?Mario, try the fix I suggested above. It worked for me and now I have no trouble with facebook or flickr.
-
Inappropriate?Tom, make sure when you install 2.0.3 you uninstall 2.5 first. Then, make sure you check "remove all personal settings" or something like that during uninstallation of 2.5. Then, without restarting your PC, install 2.0.3 and log into Flickr. After that, test to see that 2.0.3 remembers your flickr password by closing and restarting. If it does, simply install 2.5 again without uninstalling 2.0.3. Hope it works! I installed windows 7 on my second laptop and 2.5.5 would not remember my account so I tried this trick and it worked too.
