Inappropriate?Hi Brandon,
Thanks for the note. It sounds like some corruption has occurred in your profile -- sorry for the inconvenience.
We can probably fix this pretty easily. With Flock shut down, find and delete the folder called lucene in your profile, then restart.
If you are on Windows XP, the file is located at c:\documents and settings\[your user name]\application data\flock\
If you are on another operating system and you want directions to the lucene folder, let me know.
Also, when this happens there is usually a link on the crash notification dialog box that leads to more info. When you click that link it tells you what component crashed. I am guessing it is the component xplucene.dll but I could be wrong.
If removing lucene didn't fix the problem, please try and grab the information that the crash dialog tells you and let me know what it says (top right area of the More Info dialog box).
Let me know how this works out, and if I can be of further service.
Clayton

Clayton, you are GENIUS!! Thanks very much! ; ) -
Inappropriate? Before you do that, would it be possible for you to send me your profile? On XP It is stored in.
C:\Documents and Settings\[your login profile name]\Application Data\Flock\Browser\
Please compress(zip) this folder and upload it at http://www.yousendit.com to performance@flock.com

Inappropriate?Im on Vista how do you find Lucene on Vista
-
I need step by step instructions. -
Inappropriate?On Vista: C:\Users\[your login profile name]\AppData\Roaming\Flock\Browser\Profile\lucene
If you are ale to zip and send your profile as Bruno requests above, it is the entire folder at C:\Users\[your login profile name]\AppData\Roaming\Flock\Browser\Profile
Let us know how it goes! -
I have the same problem. I have Vista, and I looked in the users folder, and I cannot find the file lucene. I have used Flock for a while now, and am lost with out it. Can some one help? Thanks. -
Inappropriate?Ok I deleted the Lucene folder and Flock is working, but now like when Im on myspace, none of my friends pictures show up and the updates wont load. Also like the google logo wont show up on google. Its not showing many pictures. Is this becuz I deleted the Lucene folder?
-
Inappropriate? No, this graphics issue is not related to lucene. Can I get a bit more info? What does 'the updates won't load' mean? Can you post a screen shot of a page/sidebar where the graphics are missing? If you want to chat with me directly email me at my first name at flock dot com.
thanks
Clayton -
Inappropriate?Brandon, what is your myspace URL? I can't quite make it out from the screenshots. We'll load up the page here try and reproduce the issue you are seeing (and if we can repro it we can almost certainly fix it).
thanks -
Inappropriate?Umm Clayton this is my myspace homepage. Like where you can put in your status, add new friends, read bullitions. When I go to my actual page the pictures and everything else shows up, but just on my Homepage it dosnt show anything
-
Brandon: Can you check in the Tools menu, Options, Content tab? There should be a checkbox called "Load images automatically" which should remain checked. Click on the "Exceptions" button to the right of it. In the resulting window, are there any entries that look similar to "c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com"? If so, select and click "Remove site." These photos might have been blocked by accident. -
Inappropriate?Yes, I am trying to load up your page here, but I need the URL to do so (myspace.com/???). I want to see if I can hit that page from here and notice any of the issues. Of course my homepage loads fine, but I want to visit your page and see if I can get any leads as to why this is happening.
If you prefer, go to my page myspace.com/fleshtsunami and add me as a friend, then I can look at your page in Flock and see if I can find out what's going on. -
Clayton, I believe the complaint is not that something on the profile page will not load, but that something on the homepage will not load. Not having MySpace, I can only guess that this is the difference between the Facebook homepage (containing News Feed information about your friends' updates) versus your profile page. The complaint is that information on the homepage does not load (information on the profile page is fine, per Brandon).
If applications are not loading properly, other requests (AJAX friend status updates, for instance) could time out and not load. -
Thanks Chris, for this, and for all the help you provide. It's terribly difficult to diagnose this one, so we were hoping that we'd see something on the profile page that would give us a lead. The home page and the profile page are indeed different, but similar in terms of the content. -
Inappropriate?ok my URL is myspace.com/kurkierewicz2

Inappropriate?Hey everything is working right now, so thnx for all your help
-
In case others encounter this problem in the future, did you take any specific action to get things to work, or did your problems resolve themselves? Did you have to change anything on your homepage (adding or removing applications) in order to fix the problem? -
Inappropriate? No it resolved its self, it was weird haha but thnx guys
-
Inappropriate? The same thing is happening to me too, but can someone explain it so a fourteen year old can understand?
I’m worried.

Flock is crashing when you start it up? With Flock shut down, find and delete the folder called lucene in your profile, then restart Flock.
Steps:
1. Shut down Flock.
2. If you are on Windows XP, go to Star menu, Run, and type in "%appdata%\flock" without the quotes.
3. Go to Profiles\[random numbers and letters].default.
4. Delete the folder called "lucene".
5. Start Flock. -
Inappropriate?I have Vista, and I looked for the file call lucene, but there was none.
-
On Vista: C:\Users\[your login profile name]\AppData\Roaming\Flock\Browser\Profile\lucene -
Inappropriate?I tried, but it doesn't exsit.
I think it would be here :C:\Program Files\Flock\flock
But it's not. -
Just for the record, both Firefox and Flock have data in two locations:
1. the main program files
2. your bookmarks/preferences/extensions (collectively called your profile)
While the main application data will reside at C:\Program Files\Flock\flock (or a similar location), the Flock profile folder with your data is on Vista at C:\Users\[your login profile name]\AppData\Roaming\Flock\Browser. Firefox will store your data within the AppData folder also. -
Inappropriate?by the way some firefox addons when used with flock, tend to crash the browser at start-up .. like cooliris did for me. i had to run flock in safe mode, disable all addons and check which one caused the problem.
-
Inappropriate?I HAVE VISTA AND CANT FIND IT EITHER
-
Inappropriate?Haven't ever used Firefox, I just downloaded it now.
-
Inappropriate? Those still having problems should try running Flock in "safe mode", which temporarily disables all your addons. If that fixes the problem, then we would know that one of your addons was the cause of the problem, and we could systematically determine which one.
Instructions for running in safe mode can be found here:
http://flock.com/faq/show/30#q_61805 -
Inappropriate?I tried it, and clicked "Dis-able all add-on", but it changed nothing.
-
Inappropriate?So I found the profile-thing, at C:\Users\[your login profile name]\AppData\Roaming\Flock\Browser
And now I found Lunece file-thing. And now it working, thanks a ton you guys! -
Inappropriate?I have this problem!!!!!!!! I am using Vista, I found the Lucene file, deleted it, nothing happened. SO I restarted my pc, and still same problem. I went in and found it there again, nothing. PLEASE FIX THIS, now that i cant function without flock this happens!
-
Inappropriate?Hi Seyli,
Could you please try running Flock in Safe Mode? Does it work then? If so, one of your extensions is likely causing the problem. Enable them one by one to isolate which one, and remove it.
Thanks, and hope this helps.

Inappropriate?i haven't been able to start up flock since last night. i did everything that i was told to do on the support page. i am on a mac. reinstalled it and when i try to start it up it tells me that a copy of flock is already open. it is not. what do i do? PLEASE HELP
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?Edward,
When you reinstalled, did you delete your profile from the Application support folder in your mac?
If not, please follow these instructions:
1. Back up your Favourites.
2. Back up your Feeds.
3. Find your Profile.
4. Rename your profile to Flock_backup
5. Run Flock.
Let me know how this works.

Inappropriate?I have had this problem for 3 months now with no resolution. Tried everything they have told me to try. In my opinion no one knows how to fix it. They come up with a list of things to try, but doesn't work. I am through trying things for them. Flock needs to fix this. It is not us!
I’m through
-
Edward,
If you go to ~/Library/Application Support/ does this folder contain a "Flock" folder? If so, rename it and start Flock.
If the Flock folder is not there, and Flock will not start, please uninstall and reinstall Flock. -
Inappropriate?how do i completely uninstall it on my mac?? i tried deleting it and it still tells me flock is running.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Edward,
You must shut down Flock from the dock, then go to Application Support. Delete it from there. Then, go to Applications, and remove it from that, also.
Hope this helps,
~Cam
