Aha! In the Tools menu, Options, Tabs, your "When I click links in web pages, open in" is set to "a new tab." When set like this, I see the same new tab with Javascript, as described by T and others.
The "a new tab" setting will work for normal HTTP links but does not work for Javascript links, which just ask the browser to execute something within the context of the current page.
Change "When I click links in web pages, open in" to use "the current tab" and your problem will be solved.

Inappropriate?Hi rtornow,
Can you be a bit more specific? What are you trying to upload JavaScript to? Is there a web site that works in IE but not in Flock?
Regards,
--Chris -
Typical .. can you be more specific .. can't you just give an answer and not another question .. I for instance click on a page on the aweber site which takes me to another page .. there is a javascript verbiage on the tab created, but nothing comes up .. now this must mean that I do not have javascript installed on this version of Flock and you might assume that that is what I need, or the person before needed, so where do i go to install javascript, or does Flock not support javascript? -
Inappropriate?Flock certainly supports JavaScript, and it is turned on by default so generally you should not have to do anything to enable it.
To make sure that JavaScript is still turned on for you, open Tools / Options and go to the Content tab. Make sure the checkbox labelled "Enable JavaScript" is checked.
If you have a specific page that JavaScript doesn't seem to be working on, please send us the URL so we can try it out and determine why it isn't working.
But if you just want a straight answer, it's this: JavaScript works fine in Flock, same as it does in most other browsers. -
Hi,
I have a button for Soup, as an example, and when I click it, I get this "javascript:var%20html=function(n){var%20x=document.createElement('div');x.appendChild(n);return%20x.innerHTML;},%20d=document,w=window,di=d.images,dom=d.location.href.match(/(.*\/\/[^\/]*)\/.*/)[1],i='';for(var%20n=0;n<di>70*70)i+=di[n].src.replace(dom,%20'@@')+'|'+di[n].offsetWidth+'|'+di[n].offsetHeight+',';}var%20s1=w.getSelection,s2=d.getSelection,s3=d.selection,sel=s1?(s1()&&s1()!=''?html(s1().getRangeAt(0).cloneContents()):''):s2?s2():s3?s3.createRange():'';var%20e=encodeURIComponent,u='http://www.soup.io/bookmarklet',q='?v=4&u='+e(d.location.href)+'&t='+e(d.title)+'&s='+e(sel)+'&dom='+e(dom)+'&i='+e(i),r=u+q,x=function(){if(!w.open(r,'_blank','toolbar=0,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes,status=1,width=450,height=400'))location.href=r};if(/Firefox/.test(navigator.userAgent)){setTimeout(x,0)}else{x()}void(0);
I clicked the same button in Mozilla and it works.
Help thanks. -
Hi Linda,
This suggestion from Chris Vance (below in this thread) should solve your problem:

--Chris -
Inappropriate? For an example go to http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product... and click on the "Customer Reviews" tab on the right side of the page. The result will be a new flock tab that says "javascript" but with nothing on the page and the address bar shows "javascript:Biz.Product.DetailPage.changeTab(2,'r','N82E16820233042');" This navigation works correctly in my IE version 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp1.02828-1920.
For another example go to http://money.cnn.com/?cnn=yes and click on a stock symbol on the right hand side of the page.
I clicked on the symbol TXN and got nothing except "javascript:GoURL(quoteURL,'symb=TXN')" in the address space at the top of the page. This works correctly in IE too. -
Inappropriate? Those sites are working fine on the latest version of Flock. Are you sure you have Javascript turned on? You can turn it on at Tools > Options > Content > Check the box "Enable Javascript".
-
Inappropriate? Thanks for your help. Javascript is enabled in my Flock 2.0 browser. I've never tinkered with the advanced javascript options. So they should be set to their defaults.
I visit many other sites that presumably have javascripts that run just fine. For instance, the first link listed in my post goes to a Newegg page that appears to have javascript that runs without issue. The problem seems to appear when going to some linked pages. -
Inappropriate?T,
Do you have any add-ons installed? (You can see a list if you go to Tools / Add-ons). It's possible that one of these could be causing the problem...
--Chris -
Inappropriate?Thanks, Chris, for your response.
The "add-ons" tab has three tabs within: "extensions," "themes," and "plug-ins."
I had installed four extensions. I've now disabled all "extensions," restarted Flock, but that does not seem to have remedied the problem. Do I need to uninstall the extensions?
There are 11 plug-ins. I did not install any of them, although I assume they were installed by default upon installation of Flock. Should I disable these plug-ins?
There is one theme installed that claims to be the default 2.0 theme. -
T, did they ever solve your problem? I have been having the same problem for a week and I cannot get it resolved. I have sent numerous messages like you. Please let me know if you ever figured it out. -
Hi Roberta,
I have also tried disabling the plugins as Christopher suggested, but that didn't help.
Bottom line -- I still have the problem. -
Inappropriate?Hi T,
If disabling the extensions did not solve the problem, then uninstalling them likely won't make any difference.
Disabling the plugins is certainly worth a try... let me know if that works.
The theme is just the default one, don't worry about that.
--Chris -
Michael, did you ever get any solution to this problem? I have the same problem and have sent several requests. If you ever figured it out , I would appreciate your help. Thanks. -
Inappropriate?I have problems with javascript too. I am working on Ed Dale's 30 day challenge and have installed the add-ons he reccommends. I am having problems with a toolbar and also sending any emails from my gmail account and google Reader from Flock . I just get a tab that comes up that says "javascript:..." and a blank page.
I’m frustrated

i see others are having problem with their javascript running. for me it's with you tube...i updated and still doesn't work. I used you tube on internet explorer and it works just fine, so it must be something with flock. This is what you tube says "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player. " Youtube worked just fine in the older version....Help?! -
Hi galyon, if you get the latest version of Flock then it should also come with the latest version of the Flash player. Does that help? -
I am using the new version of Flock, which is why it's not working...I just upgraded this morning, everything was working fine prior to the upgrade. -
Hmm, that's strange. You could try installing the latest Flash player directly from Adobe and see if that helps: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ -
already done that...... twice. -

Nice one Chris! -
Oh my gosh! It worked!!!! I hassled with this for a week. You are the best . Thank you so much, Chris! -
this did not work for me. -
It took some finagling, but I finally got it to work...Yay!...Thanks so very much. -
Galyon, I have flock, 2.0.3 that's the latest version, yes? -
yup that's what i updated to this morning....wish i hadn't. -
Hey galyon, I know this is frustrating. Seems to me, you will not be able to downgrade.
Do you have tabmix plus installed? I had to change tabs there as well.
If you don't I wonder what is conflicting with the tabs opening. -
You can find Flock 1.2.7 at archive.flock.com/releases/1.2.7
Choose the file that makes sense for your operating system (the .exe is for Windows, for example). You will most likely have to start again with a fresh profile, but you can try uninstalling the new version and then reinstalling this one. -
Finally-- I've been bummed about this problem for months. Thanks Chris. -
This did not work for me, it's how I had my tab settings from the beginning but the problem was still there. What has worked is disabling the add-ons for RealPlayer, Google Update, iTunes and Microsoft DRM. I'm happy at last! -
Inappropriate?Facing same problem.
My code didn't work :( -
Inappropriate?I'm not sure if this is the same problem that I'm having or not.
When I add a gadget to my google.com/ig page, such as a Twitter feed, or certain RSS feeds, I get a fatal error. I choose to send the error report to Flock but I've sent about a dozen over the last couple of months and not sure if anyone's looked at them.
I had to remove my Twitter feeds in Firefox in order to safely load the google.com/ig page in Flock.

Inappropriate?chris' fix didn't work for me :( my 'share to tumblr' button keeps opening in a new tab this :
javascript:var%20d=document,w=window,e=w.getSelection,k=d.getSelection,x=d.selection,s=(e?e():(k)?k():(x?x.createRange().text:0)),f='http://www.tumblr.com/share',l=d.location,e=encodeURIComponent,p='?v=3&u='+e(l.href)%20+'&t='+e(d.title)%20+'&s='+e(s),u=f+p;try{if(!/^(.*\.)?tumblr[^.]*$/.test(l.host))throw(0);tstbklt();}catch(z){a%20=function(){if(!w.open(u,'t','toolbar=0,resizable=0,status=1,width=450,height=430'))l.href=u;};if(/Firefox/.test(navigator.userAgent))setTimeout(a,0);else%20a();}void(0)
a pop up window does show, but it won't recognize the link i tried to share. it goes : about://blank
this problem persist on other share buttons as well. (facebook, etc)
other browsers that i tried (firefox, safari) don't give me this.
help?
(im on Mac OS X 10.5.8 PPC)
I’m frustrated
