I can't use 'log in' or 'submit' buttons!

I am SO frustrated!!! I have devoted countless hours to searching forums, etc. to try to resolve this.
It appears my computer isn't completely loading javascript on pages . . .? On certain pages, I cannot log in selecting the 'log in' button-javascript error occurs. I don't know how to explain this . . . Here are 3 recent examples:

1) http://www.sirius.com/siriusinternetr...
If I hover over the button, it shows
javascript: launchPlayer("."."."):
and when I double click the button, nothing happens.
If I right click the button & select 'copy link location', when I paste this is what it shows
javascript:%20launchPlayer('','','','');

2) http://www.reportez.com/index.php
When I double click the log in button, nothing happens. The buttons on the left work. However, when I choose 'contact us' and then try to submit comments, nothing happens. (If I hover over the 'submit comments' button, it shows
javascript:fn_submit():

3) Used to be if I clicked on a link in an email, my browser would open with the page-now nothing happens. Thunderbird error console did give 3 messages recently-don't know if they're related to this:
No chrome package registered for chrome://communicator-region/locale/region.properties .
No chrome package registered for chrome://navigator-region/locale/region.properties .
No chrome package registered for chrome://editor-region/locale/region.properties .

This affects Flock, Thunderbird, Firefox, Internet Explorer (all are the newest versions since I uninstalled all and reinstalled with newest to try to fix the same problem that was happening in the older versions). I have Windows XP.

sad I’m SO frustrated and discouraged!

    Are you saying you're having problems submitting comments on http://www.reportez.com/Contact.php?pid= in Internet Explorer as well as in Firefox/Flock? When I visit this page and click the "Submit Comments" button without entering anything into the form, a small box appears that says "Please enter your name."

    The first two links that you pointed out use JavaScript to do stuff. Let's make sure that JavaScript is enabled on your computer. In Flock and Firefox, go to the Tools menu, Options, Content. Make sure the checkbox by "Enable JavaScript" is ticked. While you're in the Options window in Flock, go to the Tabs tab. Make sure "When I click links in web pages, open in" is set to "the current tab."

    Try things now and see if things work. If not, in Flock and Firefox, open Tools, Error Console, clear the errors there, and try the links again. Does anything appear in the Error Console? Right-click on the error and copy it so you can include it here for investigation.

    If you're still having problems, let's see if your antivirus/antispyware/firewall programs might be interfering with your browsers. You can probably find these running in your Windows taskbar, in the lower left by the clock. You might have to click the little < to expand things to see all the icons. Find the icons for your antivirus/antispyware/firewall programs, if they are there, and right click -- there should be an option to disable them. (Remember to re-enable them after trying the pages again!)

    If you're still having problems, try disabling your extensions in Flock/Firefox. This is done through Tools menu, Addons. Select each extension and click Disable.

    I haven't used Thunderbird in several years, so I'm not familiar with the chrome error you're seeing. It sounds like it might be a problem with an extension though. There should be a way to disable your extensions in Thunderbird, similar to instructions in the previous paragraph to disable them in Flock/Firefox. After disabling your extensions, restart Thunderbird and click your links again. The Thudnerbird Support Forum might be a good place to ask about your mail problems: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewfor...

    Good luck.

    YES

    FOR ME, NOTHING HAPPENS

    "Make sure the checkbox by "Enable JavaScript" is ticked"
    ALREADY WAS

    "Make sure "When I click links in web pages, open in" is set to "the current tab.""
    ALREADY WAS

    DIDN'T RESOLVE IT.

    THAT'S ANOTHER ISSUE-THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE A WAY TO TURN BITDEFENDER OFF-BUT I PUT IT IN GAME MODE. IT DIDN'T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE.

    SAME RESULTS

    IT SEEMS I READ SOMEWHERE ABOUT JAVA ADDONS THAT DON'T SHOW UP IN THE LIST, AND I TRIED IT AND IT WAS TRUE, BUT I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT I DID, OR HOW I DID IT. DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THAT?

    indifferent I’m worried.

    This is resolved!!
    Hidden in BitDefender, on the 'Privacy Control' page, is a tab for 'Script'. The box 'Enable Script Control' was checked-which was fine with me. However, the websites I was having problems with were in the list of domains, with 'Action' listed as 'deny'.

    I selected each of them and specified 'permit' (or I could have chosen the '-' button at the top which would have removed the domain from the list). Everything is fine now!

    happy I’m so very, very relieved!!
