Status Updates in sidebar
Perhaps add a "Force Update" button in the "People" sidebar for when it hasn't updated statuses in a while (and you've been on the site to know it has changed compared to what displays in the sidebar). If it fails to update by writing over the data file with this info, then have an out of the way option to delete the content in the folder so it starts the data fresh.

Keeping the sidebar from stalling is definitely something we need to do - we've made strides in this direction, but there is more to do.
In the meantime, usually closing the sidebar and reopening it helps to get it moving again. If that doesn't work for you, try:
1. Logging out of the service
2. Opening the Accounts&Services sidebar
3. "Forgetting" the service
4. Restarting Flock
5. Logging back in
Certainly not convenient, but it should work until we can crush this bug once and for all!
