iPhone app unable to checkin

Everytime I try to give it another shot, tapping on "check in here" always gives me the error "We're having trouble checking you in. Can you try again in a minute or two?". I've had this problem since I downloaded the app; that was 3 weeks ago. I think it's been more than enough minutes or two.

I've checked other threads about the issue, but none have a real solution offered.
