password sync not working
Password sync worked only the first time. Will not accept password, will not accurately reset pin (new pin does not work after reset). How to uninstall feature until program is actually working? Right now it is non-functional.

Inappropriate?Well, generally part of a beta is testing the software to help us work out such kinks before we release it. We'd love to get more information about how it's not working, especially if you can send your foxmarks.log to the beta support email mentioned on the signup page:
http://beta.foxmarks.com/program/pass...
Otherwise, you can disable password synchronization via Tools > Foxmarks > Settings, "Types", then unselect "Passwords". -
Inappropriate?I'm not sure it worked at all here. I am using my own server. Bookmarks sync fine. When I check "Sync Passwords" it asks for my password (I don't know why), but it always says my password is invalid. My password is not invalid it works just fine to login when syncing my bookmarks.
-
Inappropriate?Correction: I'm seeing exactly what you're seeing. The passwords went to the server, but won't come back. It keeps saying my master password is invalid. It's not, I've been using the same one daily for years.
-
Inappropriate?Strange, we've not seen that behavior. Is it asking for your Master Password (Firefox feature) or your Foxmarks PIN?
-
Inappropriate?I assume you need my master password to write to Firefox's encrypted storage area. Here are the screen shots:

http://img444.imageshack.us/my.php?im...
http://img253.imageshack.us/my.php?im...
When I look at my server I see the password file sitting there, so I know it uploaded initially. But now all I get is the password error from the third screen shot (above). -
Inappropriate?LanceHaverkamp: When you say we "need [your] master password", do you mean that you're entering your Firefox Master Password in the PIN dialog? The PIN and the Master Password are not (and shouldn't be) the same thing.
When you see the "Incorrect PIN" dialog, that means the PIN you entered did not allow successful decryption of the server data. My first guess is that the PIN you're entering isn't the same as what was used to encrypt the data on your server. The second possibility is that the data the extension sees on the server somehow is getting corrupted in transit, and so any decryption would fail, but since we've had reports of successful synchronization with own-server users, I think the second possibility is less likely.
If it's the first possibilty, I'd suggest resetting your PIN via the "I forgot my PIN" button--this will upload a new password file to the server, and require entering that same PIN on other computers you're synchronizing passwords to, but should fix things up.
If that doesn't work for you, please send us more details regarding your setup, including what sort of own-server you're running, and relevant lines from your foxmarks.log -
Inappropriate?Solved:
The solution is to tell the software that I "forgot" my password, even though I had not. After telling it I had forgotten the password, I saw a whole section of password pages that I had never been presented before. Apparently the request to set a password is not always displayed. I'm betting those few others who are having this trouble are, likewise, not being asked to set a separate encryption password in the first place.

I'm still not sure which password you're talking about, exactly, but great to hear you got it working! -
Inappropriate?I'm getting the "Enter your PIN" box CONSTANTLY after I upgraded from 2.6.1 to 3.5.3 on our main computer. I have uninstalled/reinstalled. The bookmark sync works fine. Firewall is not running and I'm using the correct PIN.
There is no error code/number/description...the box just keeps popping up. If I hit "Cancel" the Foxmarks Status box just stays there. At one point, it shot my CPU to 99%!
I am **not** using a Master PW in Firefox.
This is getting extremely frustrating!

Inappropriate?OK bear with me, this is confusing...
Potentially there are three different passwords involved here:
1) firefox master password (I know, you're not using one)
2) the password to the server (either foxmark's or your personal server)
3) the crypto password to safely transport your private passwords over the internet.
Assuming you are trying to sync both bookmarks & passwords; click "forgot my password" to force an update. That seems to solve part of the problem.
But yes, this thing seems to force Firefox to request the Master password a lot! I have one, so I enter it. I don't know what to do in your case.

Inappropriate?1...Tried forcing a Master Password and then disabling it, thinking that would deal with the problem.
2...My laptop can sync the passwords just fine, so it's the the password itself.
3...Already did a forced update (twice)
If I disable the password sync, everything runs smoothly. -
Did you try the "reset PIN" button on the Sync tab in foxmarks settings? That cleared my problems. well actually in my case it was the "forgot my pin" button, but both seem to do the same thing. -

Inappropriate?Yep...tried that, too.

Inappropriate?Mattit: Sounds like your password store might be failing for writes. Check out the solution described in this topic to fix it (note: instead of deleting, try just renaming the files in question):
