Sync error - Unable to perform sync calculate/upload error 0
I have been getting this sync error in Safari 4 (both beta and final versions) - Operation could not be completed - Unable to perform sync calculate/upload error 0.
I've reinstalled Xmarks a few times but I still get this error.
Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Inappropriate?Hey Han,
I'm glad you are syncing successfully! Let us know if you encounter any issues!
Thanks! -
Inappropriate? Can you share the way you solved that?

Inappropriate?Hey Jake,
Can you try a manual upload? (overwrite servers) Xmarks settings-> Advanced-> Upload.
Thanks -
Inappropriate?Sync error - Unable to perform sync calculate/upload error 0
I have this problem as well. Manual Sync doesn't work either. I've deleted my old account at foxmarks and have opened a new one at xmarks under a different name. I am unable to upload or syncronize to Safari 4.0.1. I have uninstalled Firefox as well (Any changes i made in my Safari Bookmarks would be constantly changed back when Firefox synched. I was unable to manually upload from Safari as well) Now my only browser is Safari and this problem persists. I want Firefox back but only If this problem is solved.
HELP!

Inappropriate?I have the same problem as Han had. Manual override doesn't work either.
How did you solve it Han? -
Inappropriate?I was able to fix this error, which was happening on my MacBook Pro OSX 10.5.7, Safari 4.0.1, and FF 3.0.3
1) Manually export your Safari bookmarks (File:Export Bookmarks).
2) Open System Preferences:Xmarks for Safari
3) Click on the "Advanced" tab.
4) Click on "Download", next to "Overwrite local bookmarks with Server bookmarks" WARNING: This will delete all your Safari bookmarks... so be sure you did Step 1 first.
5) Go back to Safari, and manually import the file you saved in Step 1 (File:Import Bookmarks)
You should now be able to auto-sync.
You might have some duplicate bookmarks to clean up, but it's a small price to pay to have the synchronization working again.
FWIW, I am successfully syncing FF and Safari on Mac to FF and IE on Windows with no troubles whatsoever. -
Thanks to Nick Coleman! That did the trick. Next question: have you tried the new Chrome for mac yet? Still not 100% functional (no bookmark syncing yet) but looks good eh? I actually just want another browser to check my website changes in. I think Safari and Firefox are ample for Mac browsing needs especially with the automatic bookmark syncing that finally is working again. Thanks again. Greetings from Lake Constance, mAd -
Glad it worked!
I haven't tried Chrome yet, but I'll definitely check it out... -
Inappropriate?Nick, why not just delete all bookmarks after the sync, then sync again, then import the exported bookmarks?
That way you won't end up with dupes. -
Inappropriate?I made the trick by Nick but don ́t work for me, Safari 4.0.4 / OSX 10.6.2, the unable.... continues.... i made a new account and again the sync problems. Can you help me?
Thanks
I’m frustrated

@ Nick KBG : Hows it goin' eh?! Have you downloaded Xmarks for Snow Leopard or are you still trying with the old one? Snow Leopard shuts down alot of programs and applications. I really can't remember haow I solved my original problem but it works now on Firefox and Safari quite well. Greetings from Germany! mAd -
I'm now using Snow Leopard 10.6.2, Xmarks 1.3.2, Firefox 3.5.5, and Safari 4.0.4
I also sync to a machine running Windows Vista (all service packs) with Firefox 3.5.5 and IE 8. All is working fine. -
I have all the same versions as Nick and it works great. The only Windows allowed in my life though are the ones I can look out at the world through. An interesting point nonetheless with the Vista, Firefox, IE 8 compatability. Have a good weekend! -
Inappropriate?Numan, you might try exporting your bookmarks from Safari, then deleting them in Safari, then import from the file you exported (should clear up any corrupted settings). THEN try syncing.
