Xmarks Crashes Firefox during Sync/Merge
I'm using the latest (stable) versions of both Xmarks and Firefox, and have recently run into a paralyzing problem trying to sync my bookmarks between work and home. Anytime I try to download (or merge) new bookmarks from the server it simply crashes.
At first I thought it was a bookmark on the home end causing the problem but have found that I can't download bookmarks from work > home either.
I desperately need the functionality Xmarks provides, and can't find anything to replace it. Any help with this issue would be hugely appreciated.
No Mozilla Crash Reporter pops up after the crashes, but here is the Xmarks log of the last crash:

I'm sorry that you are having this issue. Could you confirm for me which version of Xmarks you are running (if you open up the Xmarks Settings Dialog it should be on the lower righthand corner) and also if you are using your own server for syncing or are using your own server? Are you using the xmarks sync profiles feature?
Have you tried the latest version we released yesterday at http://download.xmarks.com/ (v 3.3.1)?
Typically, a simple workaround for this is to do a "Download" from the Advanced Tab of the Xmarks Settings Dialog. This will put everything in sync between the server and your web browser. However, you will lose any changes that you made between that last time you synced and now, so if you made a lot of changes, you may want to do an "Upload" instead, and then "Download" on your other computer.

Inappropriate?Thanks for the quick response. I'm currently running 3.1.0, but will definitely update and try again. I'm using an Xmarks server and am not using the sync profiles feature.
Your workaround was one of the first things I tried. Unfortunately, I've found that trying to "Download" on either end causes a crash. -

I'm just about at the end of my rope here, and I don't know where to turn to duplicate the functionality. Should I try deleting my account and starting a fresh one?

Inappropriate?I had a very similar problem as you did when I tried to sync using Xmarks on Ubuntu.
I noticed you have a lot of StumbleUpon folders and I am almost certain this is what is causing the problem.
Have you been noticing Xmarks taking longer and longer to sync? The same thing happened to me. It is because the number of bookmarks created by StumbleUpon is so massive that it actually amounts to a significant amount of data, far more than Xmarks is designed to sync.
What I recommend doing:
Go to
Tools > Addons > StumbleUpon > Options | Search and Tagging Tab
and uncheck "Save Favorites and Tags to a Firefox Bookmark Folder"
Then delete all your StumbleUpon bookmarks. You might have several thousand; I did. Note that Firefox is not designed to handle that many bookmarks at a time, so deleting them will be extremely difficult and time consuming. Also, since StumbleUpon frequently changes which folders your bookmarks are saved to, you may find that it saved bookmarks in multiple locations.
You can access all your StumbleUpon favorites from the StumbleUpon website, so there is really no need to save them all to bookmarks.
