xmarks syncronization has been canceled ?

Can't sync on my laptop... When I hit "syncronize now" button, after a while it says "syncronization canceled - xmarks syncronization has been canceled". tryied to uninstall and install a few times but still cannot sync.
 
sad I’m frustrated

    Hey Jose,

    Would you be able to post a snippet of your logfile? To do so:

    IE->Tools->Xmarks for IE->Advanced->Show logfile

    Scroll down to the bottom, and you should see the message you posted above. If you could copy and paste about 5 lines above and below the error message, that would be extremely helpful!

    Hi Nate,
    I have this same problem and repeatedly get the error message "Xmarks synchronization has been cancelled" about 30 seconds after synchronization has stared. Below is my logfile from today.

    ==> Hi Nate, I also tryed the "no encryption" option without success.
    What more can I try ?
    I noted that I have no sync profile so I tried to change profile without success. It gives me error - "we're sorry, but we're currently unable to access profiles on the Xmarks server. Please try again later".

    Hey Tim,

    Thanks for posting your logfile, that is really helpful. Can you try a new setting for me? Can you open the Xmarks Settings window, select Advanced, and select "No Encryption" from the Connection Security drop down?

    Let me know if that works, or changes the error message.

    Hey Nate, thanks for the help on this. I changed the setting to No Encryption and my Xmarks for IE started syncing again. I use Xmarks for my desktop for Firefox and IE. I also use the same for my laptop. I tried the Encryption setting for Login Only and it also worked for me. My problem was only on my desktop. My laptop still has it's encryption setting to "Encrypt All" with no problems there. Thanks again!

    Hi Nate,
    This is strange because I had been syncing Xmarks for several weeks without any problems and I haven't changed any of my computer settings, but I just now decided to turn off my firewall, and the synchronization works fine without the firewall! I use BitDefender Total Security 2008. Has Xmarks had something change recently that would cause the BitDefender firewall to start blocking it now, whereas in the past it didn't?

    Thanks for the update! I'm glad you're up and running! I'm not sure why BitDefender started to block Xmarks, but we'll look into it. What Encryption setting are you using now?

    Thanks, Nate. I still have to use the "No Encryption" setting, even with the BitDefender firewall off, to get it to sync.
