Inappropriate? If the window is opening, that would suggest that Firefox is actually starting up successfully. If you use Ctrl-N (or Cmd-N) at that point, does a new Firefox window open up?
I wonder if perhaps it's some odd confluence of session saving and having shut down Firefox while the setup wizard for Xmarks was still running.
Sorry for the frustration there; this is definitely not the standard behavior. -
Inappropriate? If this didn't help then go go into the start menu and find the startup for Firefox and start Firefox in Safe Mode; you will find the link for Firefox Safe mode in the Start menu. When Firefox opens in Safe Mode you can either disable or uninstall XMarks. After you have disabled or uninstalled XMarks the close the Safe Mode Browser and start your Firefox browser as usual. If the problem persists then it has nothing to do with XMarks. If disabling or uninstalling XMarks solves the problem then go to the Firefox Add Ons Site and find the XMarks page and make sure that you are installed the proper XMarks for your system and version of Firefox.

Inappropriate?Xmarks 3.1.0 did this to me too, at first. I'm sorry I don't remember exactly what I did to get it to stop and actually let me open Firefox... I think I clicked on the blank dialog and something happened to let me access the Xmarks option settings.
But now Xmarks pops a login dialog whenever I open Firefox, and often several times during the Firefox session. VERY annoying!
